Wind Flight native Batutu is, as many Wind Flight dragons are known to be, a free spirit. She's not very talkative about her family, but from what I've come to learn, she was born and raised on the move. Maybe that played a part in her lifestyle choices.
For as long as she's been able to hold a paintbrush, Batutu has been a painter. Once she was old enough, she peeled off from her parents and continued the nomadic lifestyle, painting the world as she experienced it. It was on this journey that she met her longtime partner, Kalestryx. The two were as kindred as kindred spirits could be, and shared a brief period enamored with one another before planing into gentler, calmer domesticity. The issue with domesticity is that it requires a "domus", a house, for it to be considered domestic. So, nearing middle age, the two finally settled down on a patch of land bought with their combined savings. They sought a simple, self-sufficient lifestyle, and although they struggled with the learning curve of agriculture, it wasn't long before they settled into the farm life. It also wasn't long before word got around to all of Batutu's friends all around Sornieth that she had a flophouse. Sorella was the first, but she wasn't nearly the last. Next came Mauvmatia, a retired opera singer who thought himself above a common service job (ironic that he ended up working on a farm). Then there was Mirabelle, Mauvmatia's ex-lover and also an opera singer... After that, Batutu and Kalestryx's little farmhouse ran out of space, but new friends and friends-of-friends kept showing up, so the crew knew they needed to expand. Using mostly local resources, another house was built. And then a barn. And then another house. Soon Batutu's stretch of land resembled a town, surrounded on all sides by farmland, and populated with everyone she'd managed to meet over a lifetime of travel. Everyone is required to help out, and everyone is provided for. And although she seems stressed by her collective sometimes, she wouldn't trade it for the world.
