According to clan knowledge, Messandei is not a remnant of the War of Ice & Fire like Drogon, but is in fact centuries younger, having re-emerged from a decades-long hibernation only 1 year ago. Back when the clan was first founded she was Drogon’s first mate, but mysteriously vanished 50 years ago as the clan experienced its first baby boom, which grew it into what it is today. Witness accounts claim that she emerged from the oldest volcano in the clan’s territory—during a spectacular eruption—in a fiery ball of rage, crying for her lost children.

In current times, she has been reunited with Drogon and lifted to the position of clan matriarch, second only to him. She has stated on numerous occasions that she adores the “new” garden, and generously aids in the forge’s funding each month. She can be seen in her free time creating embroidered blankets for the new hatchlings, screaming at the stars, and helping clan scholars revise the historical record.
Truly, the clan’s much beloved grandma.
