Biography
lady cassandra of the lightseer
she/her | homosexual | recluse | banished prophet
she/her | homosexual | recluse | banished prophet
|| Background
From the moment she hatched, Cassandra was hailed as a gift from the heavens. Her egg was created by the Lightweaver herself, and given to a clan that was more like a cult in the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. The Guardian who hatched from that egg was regarded as a god, with her slitted pupils and gifted status, the clan was certain that Cassandra was the answer to all their prayers. With her being created by their god herself, how could she not be their expected prophet?
The young Cassandra was raised in the lap of luxury, treated more like a minor deity than a real dragon. She was draped in silks and jewelry, provided with whatever she wanted whenever she wanted it. But all the while, she was expected to do one very important duty: tell the future. Cassandra tried everything to fulfill their wishes, but nothing she attempted worked. She had no ability to see what was to come and, isolated and desperate to keep her vows to the only family she had ever known, she did the only thing she could think of. She lied.
Her clanmates praised her falsehoods with raised voices and great joy, but it couldn't last. The day eventually came when Cassandra's first prophecy was slated to occur, and that same day passed with nothing. By the time night fell, Cassandra was revealed as a liar. All the dragons who had spoiled her as a hatchling, plying her with gifts, turned on her as if she had committed the most grievous of crimes, and Cassandra was driven out of the clan, still in her elaborate robes, with nothing else to her name.
Terrified, alone and distraught, Cassandra could only think to do one thing: go to where she had been promised prophecy came true, the Sea of a Thousand Currents. If she could curry favor with the Tidelord, maybe he could grant her the ability she sought. Cassandra traveled all the way across the Sunbeam Ruins to the Sea with unhinged determination, flinging herself into the water to learn how to swim when she got there and approaching the first dragon she saw to demand they take her to their god.
That dragon happened to be Klymene Portswain, and she had to break the news to Cassandra that the Tidelord was long disappeared to who knows where, and that he could no longer provide prophecy to anyone. She didn't take it well, but with nowhere else to go, she took Klymene's offer to rest at her home for a while. There was something of a kindred spirit between them, especially when Klymene revealed that she, too, had dreamed of seeing the future, and when she settled down in the fishing hut, Cassandra never left.
|| Current
Cassandra is not an easy dragon to get along with, but that's not entirely her fault. Having been held on a pedestal most of her life, she finds it difficult to engage authentically with others, and seems to be cursed with an unerringly haughty demeanor and a bad attitude. Klymene is a balm to some of these wounds, somehow managing to make her soften in ways she's never gotten the chance to do before.
Though deeply against it at first, Cassandra now has to deal with a new addition to her life; the Gaoler pup Myrddin. She has never dealt with hatchlings before, and finds him far more difficult to cope with than Klymene does, as he reminds her heavily of herself. But even then, she's trying her best to allow the little pup to blossom, and figure out if she has the strength to face this new challenge without quailing.

|| Notes
◈ Cassandra only recently learned about Guardian's Charges, and is unsure if she has one, or if the Search has ever called her. In many ways, she hopes it never does.
◈ Delphi is a maren oracle Cassandra met in the Shoredeep Presage, bemoaning his own lack of ability in telling the future. Surprisingly, the two became friends, and Delphi now lives in his own den under the Portswain dock.
◈ Before she arrived at the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Cassandra did not know how to swim. She nearly drowned getting to the Portswain hut.
