When experiencing a strong emotion, an Aris’ magic can be expressed involuntarily through where their wings should be. The result are ghostly wings (usually the color of the Aris’ magic or aura) that work as though they were physical. Though these wings are not permanent, an Aris might be able to channel their magic to form phantom wings in a time of desperation or fear when their life is in danger. There are also instances of being able to control when the phantom wings appear by purposefully feeling a strong emotion, but this also takes a lot of work.” The student looked up from his book. “Strad?” “Yes?” The older dragon replied. “Have you ever met an Aris?” When his friend didn’t answer, he tried to keep reading. “...the wings usually grow as the Aris grows older, and the appearance usually changes over time (through wear, injures, or just age). In extremely rare cases, an Aris can also have wings resembling those of another animal (bat, butterfly, insect, dragon, and more). In these cases, the Aris might be mistaken for a fae...” He noticed the older dragon’s silence. “You don’t have to answer, I’m not trying to pry, but-” “Don’t worry,” Strad said softly. “I’ll tell you soon.”
