VOID Light. Life. Vitality. Sudden and unasked for, they existed. An affront to nature. A monster. A blight from the gods. All of these were names they grew to collect as they drifted through the world, forever travelling onwards. None of these pleased it. They were too long. Obnoxious. “Void.” Yes, that would be the one. If they were to exist in this turmoiled world, they figured it would be best to have some sort of alias. They tried to make themselves more draconian, assuming a form that was a swirling insult of a Mirror dragon. Draped in rags and skulls, the result was perhaps even more unsettling. They gazed at the creature that had spoken their new name. Small, trembling, barely old enough to be out the nest, but painfully apparent why such an infant was alone on the shifting savannahs. The mutilated Mirror appeared to be the result of a failed transmutation of a wolf and hatchling, which they would later come to understand as a dragon cursed with an aggressive form of Lycanthropy. He did not flinch upon seeing her, rather simply chirping out his grumbled observation. “Void.” he grunted again. That was exactly what it was - a void, an error in both space and time that churned out an unfortunate soul, cursed with an abundance of time and lack of purpose. Void did not try to stop the monstrous birth as it stumbled after them on unsteady clawed legs, useless wings flapping either side of it’s thick pelted shoulders. Instead it spoke as the odd pair travelled. “A simple creature.” they commented. “Yet one who sees. A name for you, Oracle.” they decided. They could not know if their hideous charge had understood, nor did they know how to provide the care an infant would need. If he was strong, Void would protect him with all the strength and rage within their half-corporal body. Besides, the creature would not get in the way of their silent search for an answer. Void was determined to find who, or what had granted them this accursed sentience. Then they could make them pay. |

Void's very existence is a mistake, an error of the Gods. They formless entity roams the mortal world as a ball of pure chaotic energy - a small piece of the universe fallen to the earth. Feelings of the traditional sense are foreign to such an entity. Brought to life without purpose, they self assigned an incentive to their life - find and punish whoever was responsible for causing them this suffering. Their journey, however, was compromised by the evergrowing hoard of monsters that found community in the travelling bad of the shunned and feared. Not willing to give up on their mission, Void took up a harsh leader type of role. While watching over the small clan, they make it very clear that they can never stop moving. Over time, the persistent loyalty and guidance of their companions mellowed the entity. Their obsession with their goal ebbed away, instead taking up a very fierce protector role as they finally settled down in the scare plague lands. While Void will never outwardly emotes, if anyone hurts one they consider part of their tribe, a whole other type of monster is unleashed. |
