Axius

Dr. Axius came humbly to the Hostel, having recently been quietly expelled from his clinic on the edge of the Sunbeam Ruins. He has an awe-inspiring record of quick and successful operations, and an even more inspiring list of disgruntled former patients who'd tear him limb from limb if they saw him again.

This is because Axius' medical philosophy is the purest essence of a sawbones - you see, the most urgent and important care must involve the swiftest and smoothest removal of potential pain and infection, and the re-establishment of bodily equilibrium. He would amputate for an ingrown talon, having calculated the discomfort and mess of extraction and recovery and opted instead for the saw, the brand, and a nice cup of tea and a nap for the patient afterwards.

Axius is erudite, attentive, and very good at what he does. What a shame that those patients who came in for help with a patagial tear and left wingless don't see it that way!

Hoard: Drafts of his own discarded theses, and the odd claw or toe in a jar from a patient he remembers fondly (though the feeling is rarely mutual).
