Kohatu is the ever-patient caretaker of the Cathedral's hatchery. While some of the parents choose to rear their own young, others see it as a tedious duty, and call upon Kohatu to collect their young to care for.

She raises the hatchlings with adoration, and remembers each and every one of them.

 Once a Snapper, Kohatu wished to fly more than anything. She searched far and wide for an answer to her dilemma, first seeking those in the Windswept Plateau, but was not able to find what she sought. Eventually she was directed to the Cathedral, where it was rumoured strange and transformative alchemy happened.

When she arrived, she was first met with hesitation, but over time won over even the steeliest of hearts within the clan. When a scroll was found within part of the library that could change one's draconic form, it was presented to her, which she quickly read. When she first stretched her wings, she flew for hours, doing loops and dives and laughing all the while.

In gratitude, she offered to care for the hatchlings of her new home, to which the others agreed. Now, she raises them as her own in a brightly lit section of the Cathedral that has a beautiful view of the eastern sea.
