"Close your eyes and turn your face to the wind...and you'll feel the flow of life"

______ The red Imperial sat staring at her, his hungry eyes merely slits as he rested in the shadow of a bamboo patch. His black pupils bore into the young Coatl’s skull, his gaze unflinching and never leaving her face. He raised up a paw and licked his gleaming claws nonchalantly, which so happened to be freshly sharpened that very morning. With the other paw he picked up a delicate piece of bamboo parchment with scribbles inscribed with ink; an interesting receipt seen across many clans. “It says here that you were bought for 50 gems?” the Imperial’s whiskers twitched. “A bit pricey for such a new clan,” he sighed, “but these choices aren’t up to me.” He grinned at the hatchling, his sharp white teeth glistening in the afternoon sun. He rose and stretched, crystalline scales flashing about, crimson wings unfolding and folding again. He leaned towards the frightened child, whispering, “I’m CherryBomb. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He then turned towards the large set of wooden doors behind him. The Coatl, although alarmed by the Imperial’s threatening demeanor, was quite a queer thing, her large icy eyes stretching in curiousity for what type of life she might lead.

“A bit chilly up here due to the gusts that regularly come through,” he glanced back, “but I reckon that won’t be a problem for you, seeing that you came from the Southern Icefield.” It was true - the young hatchling was born amongst a few branches and bare snow, thus she was fairly accustomed to such temperature drops. Her mother and father, Honeytoes and Barmanou, were loving creatures and coddled their children constantly. Too many hatchlings romping around, however, caused the pair to let their offspring explore the world on their own and join clans.

CherryBomb pushed the doors opening, struggling slightly with the weight, and as they groaned open, he nodded to the Coatl, “what’s your name?”

“I don’t have one, sir,” the girl responded solemnly.

“Interesting. What do you think about Honeydew?” The Imperial mused.

The Coatl smiled and dipped her head.

“Well, Honeydew, welcome to the clan.”

Honeydew politely bowed to the azure Imperial. “My name is Honeydew, and I’m the ambassador and mother of my clan.” She pleasantly smiled. “Would you be interested in joining us?”

The female Imperial nodded nervously, following the pistachio-colored Coatl to the set of heavy bamboo doors.

“This is the entry. I remember stepping through this gateway as a young hatchling. That was...about nine months ago,” Honeydew grinned. A flurry of daisy petals and leaves swirled around her, and the white dove fluttering close to her, chirping happily. The Imperial glanced at the beautiful accent on the Coatl, which was a prestigious sign of nobility within clans. Honeydew caught her eyes in delight, saying, “It looks quite expensive, doesn’t it? It was actually from the Mistral Jamboree two years ago.” She smiled. “Pretty, isn’t it? Anyways, your name is…”

“Yara, but I'm changing it to Mitsuha” the Imperial nodded. “I was sent here because an accent was bought and the search for a perfect dragon was held.”

“Ah, that’s right. The accent was quite cheap compared to regular ones, though it still drained our funds,” Honeydew sighed. “Never mind that. Welcome to the clan, Mitsuha.”
