An ambitious and way too curious for her own good one since the very moment she hatched, Valen’Daar was an unwanted, seemingly troubled hatchling in her own clan. She would always ask too many questions, and quite a lot of them was not only a tricky one to answer, but also concerning, borderlining the very verge of heresy. That is, if you ask the opinion of any priest of her home clan. As she aged – her questions became harder and harder to find an answer to, until it got the point where she was left no choice, but to find those answers for herself. Her experiments didn’t tend to end well, as one would expect. Sure, some might say it was inevitable, some might say it was only a matter of time for her to be exiled, cast out from her own home. But it hardly mattered for young Valen. She dreamt of leaving the small forgotten shred of land her clan resided on. She wanted to leave for the great Observatory, to find her own place in this world. A place, where her obsessive pursuit of knowledge would not be considered a crime, but praised, encouraged.
The fate had other plans. The fastest route to the Starfall Isles lied through the Wasteland, and so – without any doubts, she took it. Valen did not want to waste any time for safer paths to her goal. Some might say it was a mistake. Some might say it was a blessing. Her path crossed with the wandering band of rouges. «Plague Raiders» they call themselves. An obnoxious bunch, true, but their lack of morality, of any regard towards a one’s life seemed akin. Seemed right. The more time she spent with them, the less sense it made to leave. Why would she? Here Valed’Daar could experiment as much, as her troubled soul desired, and nobody would find it concerning, nobody would say she crossed the line. It seemed like they understood – somewhat, yes, in their own fashion of generally not caring about anything, but the moment itself and the possible profit – the simple fact of there’s not being any line to cross to begin with. Well, that was, until that delirious brute of a necromancer showed his snout up. But at this point, it hardly mattered. It even was fun in a way – to argue with that religious maniac, just to team up over yet another project later.
She finally found her home. She finally found her calling and her place – as an irreplaceable part of The Chorus, as the grand alchemist.
