World-famous thief and magician! Leonard once was part of a small, struggling Light clan. When he had the opportunity to go to a larger clan, his mother encouraged him to go, hoping the new home would be better. While it was much more stable, his new clan was full of infighting and struggle between its various members, none of whom felt confident in the clan's leadership. When a rival clan from plague territory fled through their roosts, they didn't take the warning signs at face value and remained firmly entrenched, believing that the rival clan had staged the event and was waiting nearby to ambush and steal from them. That night, they were attacked by a wave of Serthis warriors and alchemists, and slaughtered almost in entirety.

Leonard was still too young to fight and would have died there, had it not been for the intervention of a kindly Guardian dragon named Alice. Her chosen charge had already perished in the fight, and in desperation and grief, she sought to at least save one small piece of the clan that her Search had brought her to. Alice carried Leonard from the battle site and lay him down inside a cave, then blocked the entrance with her body to ensure that the Serthis pursuing them would not be able to get inside.

It took several days for Leonard to regain enough strength to pick himself up and venture deeper into the cave. Though there were mushrooms in abundance near the cave's entrance, he knew that it was only a matter of time before the Serthis broke through. Limping deeper into the cave, Leonard begin burrowing down, hoping to find his way out or at least make a hidden nest where he might rest and recuperate. Not far into his dig, he broke through the floor unexpectedly, tumbling down right into the middle of a digging party that had been sent out by the Nehara clan. They brought him with them back to the clan's nearby burrows, and welcomed him into their ranks.

He has recovered since that time, but he is wary of the movements of other clans, and doesn't have very many deeper friendships within Nehara, possibly as a kind of defense. He takes care of the young, helps with preparing and gathering food, and tries to keep mostly to himself. For a long time, only Ibtesam was able to drag Leonard out of his shell. However, more recently Nehara has been interacting regularly with their companions in the WillowIstari clan, of the Nature region. Amongst their number, he met and befriended a skilled healer known as Amery. Their friendship has begun to develop into something more, though Leonard was afraid at first to let himself be part of it. Ibtesam has encouraged Leonard to let more people in, and seems very comfortable around Amery.

Thanks to a little bit of patience and kindness on Amery's part, even Leonard has opened up to him, and accepted him as part of the close relationship between himself and Ibtesam.
