"I'll bet you're just famished now... Go ahead and eat, I'll be watching..." - The Maw.

Once known as Avery Sing, The Maw is a young girl who was kidnapped by a group of scientists and forced into their experiments. She was starved and dehydrated on their whims, slowly dying with an unbearable, awful pain... She feared that her fate would be to die in a cage, wasted away to skin and bones, but then she was approached by a strange, talking rat. It told her that it would give her a small bit of sustenance and the ability to escape, but she had to prove she was hungry enough to earn it. She had to eat the rat to get what it offered. She grabbed it and at every last piece without hesitation. After that, the rat returned in a higher form- the form of a dark entity, and gave her what was owed. It gave her the ability to starve others on her own whims, to the point of death if that was what she desired. Within seconds, her victim would become a ravenous victim of hunger, lashing out and eating whatever they had to to fend off the unholy pain, and they would drool black slime. The Maw used this power on the scientists, giving them the choice to either free her or starve without end. Even if they ate and restored their health, she would simply push them back to the brink of death. They released her, so frantic and desperate to end the pain that they broke off the cell door and the chain keeping her in it. She was stuck with the bind around her leg, but she hardly cared. Much like the rat, she kept her word and left them be. Now corrupted by her dark powers and jaded by circumstance, she travels the country to find her way back home, and she will not hesitate to starve or kill anyone who gets in her way. She's constantly plagued by hunger and willing to eat nearly anything to sustain herself. Animals, insects, plants, dirt- it's all food to her. She hunts down animals and insects like a wolf, sniffing and prowling until she catches her prey. She uses her sense of smell to identify poisonous plants and avoids them, as well as contaminated dirt. Notes: The actual lore of the character this dragon is based on is constantly changing. I cannot for the life of me settle on a story for her, so I'm not changing her bio here. The current iteration is still related to the dark rat god and the Maw's power of starvation, but otherwise isn't very similar. Character's appearance. |
