"I can grant any wish, no matter how small or big. But with it comes a terrible price..."

______ Uvada is a mystical dragon. She has achieved amazing magical prowess and currently acts as a wish giver in The Tangled Wood. Her powers come at a cost, both to her and the one receiving the wish. The price is extremely high, making the wishes she grants extremely valuable. The way that she does this is unknown, with her not giving any details about how she gained her powers. Her life before is... unknown to the others and she likes it that way. After all, she keeps a dark secret right under everyone’s noses--or rather above.

Uvada’s parents had her in The Tangled Wood, a Shadow nest. However, they used forbidden magic to hide her true element, and faked her birth in The Shifting Expanse, a Lightning nest. Her parents successfully faked the birth with the help of a dragon they trust, Starlight. She was able to make sure that no one knew about the illegitimacy of it by hiding the Shadow emblem atop her head, disguising it as a Lightning emblem. The dark arts are wonderful for hiding dark secrets. However the Shadow can still be seen if one looks hard enough.

Not being able to fully cover the Shadow emblem would be her downfall. A dragon found out about her true element, the dobber. Sunrise, a malicious Imperial, found out about the illegitimate birth and quickly told Uvada’s grandparents, who demanded that she be executed. Uvada knows not of how they responded. Starlight overheard the commotion and warned her, practically panicking, to run away and hide. Uvada, who’s not stupid, promptly ran before anyone could stop her.

Uvada, despite being a young and energetic dragon, had a long way to go from The Shifting Expanse to The Tangled Wood. The endless desert before her as she flew was daunting and heightened her fears. She didn't dance on the wind as she should, but rather frantically jostled about, trying to get as far away from the others as possible.

She was afraid, afraid of those that hunted her. That she was going to be executed. She was going to be executed for being of the wrong element, something that she could not control. She was born under the wrong deity. She was a traitor to the Stormcatcher and a traitor to her clan. These feelings seeped into her mind, poisoning her self-image. They consumed her. When she finally broke out of her prison, even if temporarily, she found herself lost.

______ Being lost in The Tangled Wood is incredibly confusing, with the forest constantly working to trick you. The dragons inside will also try to trick you--if tricking means trying to steal all of your money and possessions. A Ridgeback, wearing a hood but still clearly scarred from previous encounters, stopped Uvada. He demanded to have her things or she'll get stabbed. Uvada, with what little things she had, gave them to him. He laughed and started to slink away, but Uvada quickly broke his snout, grabbed her things and ran off as fast as she could. It wasn't pretty, but it was efficient. After a while she hid in a tree, being sure that she had lost the evil Ridgeback.

Uvada's tale does not end there. She continued on her way, to a clan--a family-- that would take her in. She wandered, foraging for food when she needed to, but after that encounter, travelling light was her best option. The Tangled Wood is an unkind place, with it's monsters and dragons alike. Most dragons are kind-hearted, though they do love their pranks.

The dragons that Uvada faced were not such pranksters. She crept along the mossy and dark undergrowth but unbeknownst to her, she was being followed. A Pearlcatcher and a Bogsneak trailed her, knowing that she would be worth quite a sum of coin. They waited until she could walk no more and, with the help of a speed potion, rushed her. Uvada barely had time to react before they were upon her. She called out as they tied her up, but no one came. They carried their victim away from The Tangled Wood, hoping to sell her somewhere back in The Shifting Expanse.

Uvada, being so filled with rage and fear of what used to be her home, felt the magic flow through her. It coursed through her body with such vigor. The power was a system shock, a splash of ice water to her nerves. The magic, having filled her, quickly spilled out, causing her captors to drop her in shock. The ropes that held her snapped, arcane blades slashing them. She rose up, arcane energy forming a cloak of Shadowy blades swirling her. Her captors, realizing that they were not getting played enough for the pain they could endure, chose the smart option and ran away. Uvada stomped her way to the heart of The Tangled Wood.

After that, her life settled. Taken in by a family that would watch over her, she studied magic arts under The Arcanist. She decided that, with her amount of power, she would grant wishes. Though the customers would have to pay a price, she would give others the opportunity that she wished she had. With her new-found business, she would become known as one of the most powerful witches in all of Sorienth. With the title, others would speculate about her origins which were--and are--shrouded in mystery.

This is Uveda as a hatchling. Sometimes I call her Uvada. She loves collecting apparel and making spells.
