Biography
Many dragons who are born in the Banebeast clan, unfortunately, do not stay to adulthood. Life inside the clan is isolated, and often, dragons born in Banebeast feel a deep desire to reconnect with dragonkind, having spent their life around beastclan.
This is where Lothair comes in.
Smooth talking, great with children, and passionate to teach, Lothair uses his knowledge of the outside world to teach all of the clan's hatchlings from hatching to young adulthood. This serves a dual purpose.
On one hand, Lothair's vibrant, unique appearance and his outside knowledge attracts the younglings to his school and - hopefully - sates their desire to know of the outside. Their curiosity sated, more young dragons will decide to stay with the clan for life.
The other purpose of Lothair's teaching is the trials.
As more hatchlings began to grow and thrive in Banebeast, it became necessary for the clan to have a structure in place to prevent betrayal. If a young dragon has decided to devote to the clan and completely integrate into Banebeast, they must prove their dedication, with their familiar, in Banebeast's trials.
These trials are customized to suit the dragon and familiar, but involve both physical and mental trials that require complete collaboration between dragon and beast. Upon successful completion, a dragon will be welcomed permanent residence in Banebeast, given knowledge of the location of the lair compared to the rest of the world, and allowed to travel freely in and out of the clan.
If a dragon fails their trials, a one year journey around the world will be offered to dragons who wish to remain in the clan. In a year, should the dragon still want to retake their exams, they will return to a designated meeting point and be taken home to prepare. This journey is offered in the hopes that it will strengthen the bond between the dragon and familiar.
