"What a sweet lookin' guy!"

Nearly everyone who sees Peridot has the same response. From the tousled fringe that just barely misses obscuring his face, to the perpetual expression of wide-eyed enthusiasm, to the tapping claws that just can't manage to stay still, everything about him exudes likability, straightforwardness, and the sneaking suspiction that whatever you were about to say, he would respond with a "Wow, that's so cool!"

The first impression is accurate. Contrary to stereotypes, the Gaoler is optimistic, occasionally naive, curious about other dragons, and sweet. The most charming thing is how he manages to be incredibly bright and marvelously dumb at the same time; he successfully deals with complimented equipment and uncooperative, bickering dragons constantly at his job, but would believe you if you told him 'gullible' was written on the ceiling.

Peridot truly believes that bad things don't happen to good dragons. Miraculously, or just through pure, dumb, luck, it's held true for him.

He supports himself as a freelance photographer, mostly family portraits and school events, but occasionally gets hired by a Pumpkin Center studio to take promo pics for an upcoming movie. Peridot loves these assignments most of all: he gets to travel (just down the road but still!), rub elbows with the stars, and get the scoop on what the next big film will be. He never spills confidental details, of course, but it's always good to know what's coming next.

Toothpaste is Peridot's boyfriend. They love each other very much, despite having seemingly incompatible energy levels. Most days Peridot comes home with flowers and date plans only to find Toothpaste practically passed out after his day on the job. He never fails to improvise though; cold cereal and watching the sunset can be just as romantic as a restaurant dinner and show.

TOOTHPASTE

If Peridot is aware of what Boyfriend does for a living he's never let on. The two met outside of a studio- Peridot heading out after a shoot and Boyfriend hanging around out front, hoping to glimpse a star. The two struck up a conversation and found they had a lot in common. If nothing else, their association gives Peridot a modicum of protection from the local grifters; no one wants to get on the Spiral's bad side.
