The Prophet

[GORE WARNING]

The parents leaned in close over the nest, ears quivering at the sound of the tiny noises coming from within the eggs. Seere's siblings hatched long before him. When he managed to pierce the shell and poked his head out his parents gasped in horror at the sight of the little spiral. He had an extra eye in the center of his forehead. Upon fully emerging from the egg it was revealed that the little fellow also had many extra eyes on their wings. Seere was taken away from his parents by the leader of the clan, flown to a spot of worship so that all could come to marvel at him. He was touched by the Shadowbinder, they said. Dragons all across the Tangled Wood came from miles around to witness the little squeaking and squawking spiral in his entirety, to marvel at his strange appearance and form and set out offerings of mushrooms and pine cones as tribute.

This went on for some time, the tiny hatchling growing strong under the care of the keepers of the Temple. It was not long before trouble came. A pack of dragons galloped to the forefront, shoving past the others that had come to pay their respects. Their leader, a dark colored ridgeback, seized the baby spiral off of his pedestal. He raised the child into the air, shouting about the glory of Shadowbinder before he dug his claws into hatchling's skull, pulling out the two eyes that were inset in the normal position. The baby screamed in pain as he gave the two eyes to his cheering companions.

Before the fanatics could injure the spiral further, Spider sprang from the crowd, seizing the ridgeback by the head and scratching at his face and eyes. Her shrieks of rage were easily heard from the father that was circling slowly overhead. From the sky swept down Morogog, his great wings casting the others all in darkness. Morogog was a common sight in the Shadowlands by now and most others had learned of his strength. The crowd fell silent, except for Spider's loud continued shrieking and cursing.

Morogog pulled Spider from the ridgeback, reaching to hand her over to Carnie who had come to rest nearby. She struggled against the Guardian's clutches but he held her fast. The agonized ridgeback was rolling on the ground, still clutching the terrified and pained spiral. One of Morogog's lips curled back in disgust, revealing rows of yellow teeth.

Reaching down, Morogog seized the arm that still held the baby in one paw, and with his other he held the ridgeback in place. There was the sound of meat rending from bone, the ridgeback crying out in pain again. Morogog tore the limb straight from his body, spiral and all, showering the surrounding crowd with a spray of blood.

Spreading his wings and taking into the sky, Morogog called "Let it be known that this spiral is now my own, and if any shall threaten him or come to take him they will deal with me."

And with that, he took to the sky, taking Spider and Carnie with him.
----

Seere grew up with Morogog in the Swamp, recovering from the injury though he was now permanently blinded in two of his many eyes. Him and Spider consider each other siblings of a sort, Morogog the watchful father over both of them. Seere is shy and quiet, not one to say much of anything to most though Spider is capable of opening him up with only a few smiles and jokes. He speaks in a small voice, different from most spirals in that he's not loud and exuberant. However, Seere does seem to possess some of the spiral's restless nature in other ways. He's always reading and researching about magic. This interest has meant that he has formed a strong relationship with Winkle the Wizard.

As Seere became older it became clear that he was in fact quite special beyond his strange appearance. Seere is capable of looking into the future, though most of the time this seems to be the many possible ways an event can play out depending on differing circumstances. Because of his ability to see how things pan out he is often asked questions and his opinion is taken into account on some of the highest of matters within the swamp, though Seere is careful to warn others that these prophetic glimpses may not always be cemented and are unstable.

Other times, Seere receives visions from what many in the clan consider to be from the Shadowbinder herself. All at once his body stiffens and twitches, his many eyes flicker and flutter open and shut before glowing bright and white. A voice comes from within him that his not his usual soft spoken self, but something different, deeper, and far beyond. It is in these instances he gives prophecies of things to come, be it smaller happenings from within the clan (Seere predicted the arrival of Dullahan, Saintsinew, and many of the others) or great events in Sornieth's future (he foretold the rallying of the Beast Clans). After such episodes Seere remembers little of the vision and is often very tired. The experiences are something that he actually has come to dread.

After such events he is carefully tucked away to recover under the watchful eye of Spider.

RELATIONSHIPS

Umbra Wolf Seere has a pack of three Umbra Wolves that he is very fond of and very close to. Through magic he is able to see through their eyes when they are far away from him scouting at the edge of the territory. He frequently sleeps piled up with them and they are respectively named Fluffy, Jingles, and Pooch.

2970353.png Spider is viewed as a sister and he is extremely close to her. Spider often wards off dragons that are attempting to get a better look at him or ask questions when he is not in the mood. Her fierce protection has gained him plenty of personal space in times of need.

2970352.png Seere considers Morogog a father figure even if he may find some of his behavior disturbing. Still, he is known to seek out his father if he needs advice.

2815716.png Seere is terrified of Carnie but views him as a kind of Uncle.

2890744.png When Spider and Morogog aren't available, a good hug from Auntie Twinkie probably will do the trick.

3330380.png Though Seere respects Lazarus' magical abilities and prowess as an alchemist, he does have to admit he feels as though the rideback may have a bit more than a passing interest in him. Still, he disregards this as distrust of their kind from his previous experiences but he just can't manage to shake off the feeling the ridgeback would like nothing more than to dissect him. Must be that creepy grin he's always wearing on his face.
