Biography
The Icewarden reached his claws into the dark, cold waters surrounding the Southern Icefield. They brushed against the jagged black ice that rests just under the surface. He breaks off a piece, and brings in above the water. His magic surrounds it creating a rounded barrier - an egg, infused with ice magic to create a life, as much as it can be one, born of ice. His task completed, the Icewarden lets the egg fall from his claws into the watery abyss, and flies away. There will comes a day when the water's surface is broken by a creature made from black ice, and she will fly for the Icewarden.
She remained nameless for much of the time she spent in service to the Icewarden, though she always seemed to know when she was being called. Eventually, she was given a name. By whom, Dissonance does not remember, nor care. It is clear enough where the name came from, for though she rarely speaks -indeed, there are many who think she cannot speak at all- when she does, she sounds as her namesake. None of it mattered. She was obedient, skilled, a good fighter. These defined her service under the Icewarden. He called upon her often.
But recent times had been quiet, almost peaceful. It was because of this that after many, many years, she had been released from the Icewarden’s service. With no orders to follow, she wandered the Icefields for a time, a shadow weaving through the icy landscape.
Eventually, she settled in a small cave near one of the peaks of the Cloudscape Crags. There, she mated with a mirror. He a was a pathetic thing, restless and arrogant, but that meant little to her, and she had few options besides. They laid two nests, and raised six children. Once they became adults, Dissonance sent them off to exalt, to serve the Icewarden as she had. The mirror, having grown sick of the small cave and the mate who felt nothing for him, left as well.
Dissonance stayed in her cave, taking in new dragons to raise and train for exalt, as her final duty to the Icewarden. Occasionally, a dragon would stay, and in this way she grew her clan. Now, she does not train exaltees as often. Instead, she resides within the den’s entrance and observes the clan’s comings and goings.
