YKOhTSE.png Biography -

» Primal eyes make for more than a pretty face. With them carry a deitial responsibility - though belief and custom changes from continent to continent, clan to clan, there lies in most a basic belief that primal eyes indicate some sort of recognition from a deity.

As you can imagine, then, the pressure was nothing short of immense from the moment Sandollar emerged from her egg bearing water primals. Born to lowly fishers, whose only responsibility to Sornieth was how quickly they could reel in their massive nets, Sandollar was quickly whisked away from her family by local priests to live under their careful observation within their temple - one of the thousands trying to be the one to crack the mystery left behind by their great deity's disappearance. Every breath, sneeze, cold, tear, bowel movement - all of it was scribbled down in their tomes, as if any one of them could indicate the return of the Tidelord.

Guardians are quicker than most other species to mature, and Sandollar did not retain the mind of a hatchling for long. Teenage rebellion swept her temple like the barrelling waves of their great god, and Sandollar made a habit of frequently escaping the holy grounds. As most of her keepers were fae and skydancers, their small and weak frames could not physically restrain the massive derg, who would erupt into the air with powerful command the minute the spirits moved her to. Realizing that they were fighting a losing battle by trying to contain her, the priests instead decided it was time to appeal to her. To convince her to stay, they begun to give her hobbies.

From her youngest days, and quite fitting for one of her gift, Sandollar had enjoyed exploring the beachside. Her talent for magic in the ways of the priests - who could often command great surges of water at their call, and make shapes out of seafoam - was extremely limited, but
her dexterity with her claws was not. She would often collect pebbles, seaglass, and shells alike from her trips (indeed, when she would defect from the temple, it was almost certain that she could be found at the beach to add to her collection), the bulk of which she would arrange in colorful columns on the shelves of her room. Noticing her talent for color composition, then, the priests begun to teach her how to melt bits of seaglass to form artworks - a technique they were familiar with from years of creating stained glassed windows to add character to their prayer rooms. Sandollar took to this immediately. Her talents for glass-blowing and smelting often focused on large, artistic depictions of the seaside, and sold at fantastically high prices to tourists to the temple (the funds were immediately funneled the maintenance of the temple; no corruption here!).

As an adult, Sandollar still has not strayed far from the side of the temple, as they still regularly monitor her - and the other small collection of water primals they have encountered over the years - for any sign of change. Indeed, she has changed - though she doubts it's anything related to the Tidelord. She has become older, more mellow, and less likely to run away. She finds it difficult to connect with dergs that aren't the priests of the temple, though their relationship is likely easier for her since it's ultimately transactional - she lets them observe her, they give her a place to stay. Her glass-blowing has become her charge, no longer just a simple hobby. Her den on the seashore is constructed entirely of seaglass of all different colors, and catches the sunset like a star on the shoreline.

A small, small part of her wants the Tidelord to remain missing so things can stay as simple as they are for her right now.

TKPOJrP.png Quick Facts -

» She is prone to letting her mind wander, especially if her eyes transfix over the waves.

» As a hatchling, she frequently suffered from migraines. These intense periods of pain would diminish when she spent time outside on the beach, especially when she went on the hunt for seaglass, rocks, and other oceanic trinkets.

» Primal eyes are often thought to be an indication of great magical potential, or a blessing from the respective deity. With the Tidelord absent, and with Sandollar's absence of ability for magical manipulation, are her eyes just a fluke...?

» She has an incredible tolerance for heat, which is probably beneficial in her trade.

» She is interested in taking on an apprentice at some point to teach glass-blowing to, but this might be more so due to her loneliness than a foremost desire to bestow knowledge onto someone.
