Biography
“Do you know of a place Hidden in the crystalspine reaches, deep deep deep within the twisting shifting caverns? There is a den there. And in that den, is the heart of the sky.”
“Don't be silly Alla, the sky isn’t alive. It doesn’t have a heart.”
“Of course not! Not anymore. Not really.”
“What do you mean?”
“Long ago there was a tribe, living on the far northern side of the focal point.”
“‘Twas ah village, barely large enough ta call it one inna first place.”
“A city o' ancients, floating above the stars. hidden 'rom us by 'he magic of 'he drag'ns livin' innit, and 'he sky 'at loved 'em more than anythin'..”
“A kingdom! within the ground, deeper and bigger than nearly any other!”
“A small settlement tucked away in the starwood strand.”
“The dragons were poor.”
“Deadly warriors! feared by all who spoke their name.”
“Pure of heart and mind, children of the moon.”
“Evil, and nasty. Willing to do anything and everything to get what they wanted.”
“One day, something attacked them, something big.”
“The shade!”
“A rival nation, come to conquer their lands and steal their resources.”
“A plague, worse than any they've ever seen before.”
"And the dragons were pushed to the brink. But one day,"
"The king-"
"The chief-"
"The prince-"
“A trio of great mages-”
"Called upon the stars for help, and they sent down their brother in the form of an egg. From the egg, hatched a-"
"-hatchling, as dark and cold as the night itself-"
"-Dragon, tall and mighty with a sword made of light!"
"And he banished the blight with a single cry from his mighty lungs. But the effort took a toll on him, he could not return to the sky. And so He-"
"Lived in the village with the dragons he sacrificed everything to save-”
“Was exalted by his saviors, sent up to the observatory for that was the closest he could ever get to his former home.”
“Went into hibernation for a thousand years-”
“But some say he wanders sornieth to this day, still searching for a way to get back into the sky."
The hatchling blinked up at their parent, narrowing their eyes after a moment to process “you don't really think that story is true, do you? Alla?”
The Tundra mother just chuckled; glancing over at the clan’s newest guest, who could be seen messing about with some curious pixies, in a knowing fashion “Oh, you’d be surprised with how many of them are.”
Their savior was an.. odd dragon. but in all fairness, one couldn't expect much from from someone who had quite literally been born two moons ago.
when he emerged, it had been quite the sight. a streaking comet as black as the deepest night, fire, light, and a guardian standing tall and regal in the smoking rubble. His eyes were lit with an arcane fire, like ten million stars glimmering in a big pool, and his scales dripped and rippled like an oozing pool of void.
nothing like he was now, small and dull, capaple of little but the warbles and trills of a toddling hatching. it was a startling shift, but not one that was hard to adjust to.
he couldn't do much at first, couldn't even eat! just sat in his little den, sleeping and babbling nonsensically to any visitors. he couldn't go outside either, just the faintest hint of light on his scales would have him screaming a crying up a storm.
it only lasted a week, however.
curious little bugger was everywhere, babbling and humming endlessly at any unfortunate soul that didn't have the sense to look busy. thank the arcanist he took to draconic as easily as he had walking.
it was strange to see the mind of a hatchling hiding in such a large body.
