Protectors and loyal servants of the Archive

The order of the Watchers are known to be a closed group solely composed of "pearless" Pearlcatchers. Steered by their leader, called "the Eye", they all feed with their memories one enormous shared pearl named "the Archive".

By entering the order they pledge allegiance to the kingdom, the crown and the organization and swear to give up on their own personal pearl. They are the records of the kingdom and detain all of it's history.

While pearless Pearlcatcher have a terrible reputation among many clans and tribes it is seen as an immense honor to join the Watchers. Throwing away their own identity by giving up on their pearl might be a huge sacrifice for the members of the order but one that is often deemed as worth it and heroic.

There is three different ranks within the organization. Intra-muros Eyes, (thus are called the members of the order.) Extra-muros Eyes and The Eye.

Intra-muros Eyes are assigned to the task of keeping the records of about everything that happens inside of the capital. important events, simple meetings or even the most secret orders from the queen herself. After each new information they will usually go back to the Archive to directly "feed it". Most of them wear official apparels, making them recognizable and thus respected among the kingdom's people.

Extra-muros Eyes are much more discret and live quite a rougher life. Sent outside to keep up with many events all over the kingdom they are more likely to be exposed to direct danger and follows a strict training to learn how to defend themselves. Some can be out during multiple days or an even longer period of time (if they must attend a war or a conquest for example) and thus bear with them "temporary pearls" that they feed once each day that they spend away from Aena. When back in the capital they will watch again the totality of the informations they gathered during their journey, feed the Archive with their now refreshed memory and destroy the small pearl they have created on the other side of the walls. No one knows who extra-muros Eyes are outside of the order as they bear with them important knowledge and could be preyed upon by ennemies or spies from other kingdoms / clans / tribes.

The Archive is known to be so big that only the Eye and a few members of the order are able to naviguate precisely through this massive pearl without being overwhelmed by the enormous amount of memories the Watchers have built through the years. The Eye is renowned and respected by many even though only a few have seen her themselves as she rarely quit her duty to wander in Aena. Helped by many magical hands she is capable of naviguating around different flashbacks at the same time. She and the Archive are to be protected at all time as they are the key to the kingdom's records and history.
