HISTORY
Miasma was the ‘white sheep’ of her strange, alchemically inclined family. It is suspected that being hatched with primal eyes is due to their parents’ meddling in shadow magic and alchemy. She resided with that clan for a long time, wherein she flitted and sighed from bramble to bramble, a breeze through the shadows. It was somewhat expected of them to, as the child of the clan’s founders, that she would take on some higher responsibilities, or at least take an interest in something that could benefit the clan. But this never really happened. She took an interest in poetry, and wrote lengthy poems and prayers praising the Shadowbinder. Some of them were published in a small anthology called “Romancing Obscuration.”Ulyana is the one who invited her to join the Haven. The soon-to-be Matriarch had read Miasma’s anthology, and sought the poet out to discuss their works. Ulyana stayed with Miasma’s clan for some time, before Ulyana had to leave again. Neither of them have ever discussed what happened during that time. Years later, Ulyana sent a letter to Miasma, speaking of a wind clan open to all. Miasma left for the Haven immediately, and has been in the Haven ever since. Technically, Miasma was the first of the current Ambassador dragons to join the clan, although she only joined the project after some convincing from Kindra. They were able to be convinced once being told that their responsibilities would be limited, including dispensing occasional advice, or participating in annual rituals for the Shadowbinder’s holiday. She continues to write poetry, and has begun dabbling in songwriting. She primarily mentors young shadow poets, witches, and writers within the clan, including Miloslav, Iona, and Secaryn (when the stubborn necromancer is willing to take advice). She considers Ulyana a dear friend still, but has a somewhat terse relationship with Huxley, the clan’s resident forager. The source of this tension is a mystery, and when interviewed Miasma said only, “I disagree with their methods, that’s all,” in the tone of voice of a dragon ready to claw someone’s eyes out. Author’s note: No further inquiry was made. |
