Absinthe was born to Melospiza and Tangara, both from a Plague clan in the Scarred Wasteland. It was when Absinthe still was young that an unknown disease befell the already plagued land. Food and resources dwindled, and the clan famished. Soon, even the strongest and adaptable dragons fought for their lives. Being desperate, the clan forced some of the clan members to join the ranks of the Plaguebringer, hoping to soothe her. Among them was Absinthe’s father, Melospiza. However, their sacrifice remained unanswered. To ensure her and her son’s survival, Tangara hoarded whatever food she found. But one of the clan members found out. Driven by greed and envy, he accused Tangara of being responsible for her clan’s troubles. He claimed the Plaguebringer wanted to put the clan and their abilities to the test and that Tangara deceived the deity herself. As a punishment, Tangara, too, was forced to leave the clan and join the ranks of the Plaguebringer. Only Absinthe knows that shortly after that, her accuser pillaged her hoard. Absinthe left the clan soon after that. Even though he was still a rather young dragon, he made his way through the Sea of a Thousand Currents to the Windswept Plateau. On this journey, he soon realized how much a quick mind and an even quicker tongue were worth. His natural charisma, his smarts, and his still hatchling-like appearance ensured that no other dragon could turn him down when he needed food or a safe place to sleep. While with time, Absinthe shed the hatchling appearance, his charisma and smarts grew. By the time he had reached the Windswept Plateau, he was an adult and a sly dog with a silver tongue. |

But it was not enough. Soon, Absinthe started craving for more. What he wanted was not only a full stomach and a soft bed. What he wanted was power, influence, and a hoard made of gold and jewels. So he started gathering together his own troupe of rogues and tricksters, dragons that lived from what other dragons had built up. Absinthe was their leader and pulled the strings in the background. Both his influence and his riches grew… until he made a bad mistake. Driven by his thirst for possession, Absinthe started courting the wife of his right-hand and friend Raan behind his back. She fell for his charm and Absinthe did not stop there. However, Raan uncovered the betrayal. Angry and disappointed, he sold out Absinthe to a clan they had recently exploited, took over the group of rogues, and left Absinthe to die. It was Absinthe’s charisma that once again saved his neck. While waiting for his trial and almost certain death through the clan’s leader, he managed to pull his guards on his side. He claimed he had been betrayed as well, that Raan was to blame for the treasure they had taken from the clan. They believed him and convinced their clan leader to listen to Absinthe’s story. When talking to her, Absinthe managed to waken her sympathy for the betrayed and broken follower of Raan he claimed to be. She let him go and Absinthe continued his journey. But instead of seeking treasure or influence, Absinthe craved only revenge on that dragon who had taken everything from him. His search for Raan and his followers finally led him into the Snowsquall Tundra, where he met Aspen’s clan. To Absinthe, they seemed like just the right tools for him to accomplish his plans. |

Quote:
More red beauties! While the crimson silk apparel is typically a popular choice, his outfit and skin look as if they were custom made just for him. I almost didn’t realize he had a Stained gene, but the fact that it is a dark blue color like Navy really brings out the purplish areas on the silk apparel! He most certainly looks like a devious trickster with charisma and cleverness. I wonder how he’d fare against my ancient assassin Varlan in a battle of wits?
