Her parents were Seekers, part of a band that traveled far and wide - slipping unheeded between domains, concerned only with their task of seeking out the Shade. How exactly her nest came to be had never made it into the stories she was told growing up - her parents had been far more concerned with seeing their only daughter well educated in her history and purpose in the world. Though her nest had been unadorned, the area around it had grown thickly with heather and her father, being both scientific and somewhat sentimental in nature, called her Erica - for ericaceae. With her green eyes, surrounded by eyes that reflected only the ice of her homeland, and the only child in the band, she felt out of place and strived to make herself useful. On the edge of being fully grown, ready to take up the mantle of Seeker in her own right and receive a proper name, disaster struck and she lost both of her parents to a vicious shade creature. In their grief the rest of the Seekers turned on her, and citing the Shade-taint she carried from being born on the surface they drove her away. Alone and grieving, she began traveling to the Southern Icefields. Seeking guidance from a home she's never known. She was lucky, in that on her arrival at the fortress she found reproach only for the band that cast her out. She was given the role of Seeker officially, as well as a name of her own choosing. What could she choose, but the only name she had known? |

Erica is a practical dragon first and foremost, and keeps only for what has a use. She is efficient in all she does, from walking to sleeping, and loath to show any sort of weakness, anything that does not mark her as an ideal Seeker, but in truth she inherited her father's sentimentality. Even grown, with a name and purpose of her own now, she grieves for her parents. The sadness will come on her as swift and sudden as a memory and she will grow quiet and slip away to be unseen. She has a wistful heart, and a softness she often struggles to hide. It is this softness that drew her more open and passionate mate to her. She and her mate Taiga meet in their ancestral homelands. He, noticing her green eyes, reached out with the shared experience of being surface born. They did not immediately become friends, but came together after chance and circumstance put them together time and again. After going out on several hunts to bring in Shade creatures, she eventually is assigned a patrol along the southern shore of the Starfall Isles. Technically she keeps a lair within the territory of a local clan, for the safety and information networks they provide, but often she stays on the move - always traveling as a child, staying still does not feel natural to her. Over time she has gathered to her a small band of her own, that look to her a leader, and with them she keeps her region free of Shade creatures. |
