Illuai was not pleased when she learned that she was to be sent away from the Sunblessed Stronghold. She cared not for the Court's decision to reinstate the Seekers, and she cared even less for the idea that the new Seekers would include members of the guard. Why did it matter that the world outside was different? They had their charges, and protecting the surface from the horrors within the Stronghold was much more important than making nice with some lesser dragons. Illuai herself was a proud member of the Overseers, and she had seen firsthand the type of terrors that are held beneath the Stronghold. Here in the Hewn City, the shade-touched monsters were some if the strangest and most powerful, including such terrors as a Consumed Emperor. Despite Illuai's protests, she soon found herself sent off from her home towards the Starfall Iles, where she was to forge an alliance with a dragon clan there and learn what they know about the free shade-touched. Illuai was also told to meet up with a fellow gaoler from the Songbreath Sanctuary, who would assist her on her assignment. At least she wouldn't be alone amongst these strange dragons.
