Hoshi

On a night where magic shook the land of Sorneith, changing all things from one way, to another; winds that violently whipped up tornadoes calmed, hurricanes became a light rain, volcanoes that were about to erupt became dormant. All the elements that were raging suddenly quieted as if the world was holding it's breath, and soon four small eggs hatched. Out of the four small hatchlings, only was was decorated with the patterns of the sky, so his parents decided to name him "Hoshi" meaning "Star". His parents, Cinis and Malum were delighted when their children seemed to be "Normal", as they both carried curses that brought Death. Though as Hoshi grew, they found that perhaps he wasn't so normal after all. Unlike his parents he didn't hold a curse, but instead he had a Gift. His gift enabled him to give life; He could turn rocks into creatures, plants into beings, water into sirens, even the wind into birds. There seemed no limit to his power.

Hoshi decided it would be best if he traversed the world of Sorneith, trying to find where he belonged, saying goodbye to his beloved parents and siblings, deciding to head out into the world. One day Hoshi met a dragon named Cerish whom was fascinated with different magics, and tried to test his theories, which led him into much danger. This is when Hoshi learned that he could not re-gift life to those that had already lost it.. One day Cerish decided he wanted to test a theory of dark magic, and it cost him his life; Hoshi desperately tried to revive his friend, only to find that he couldn't. He buried his friend on the edge of the Southern Icefield, then wandered blindly through the snow and ice, until coming upon a small clan, run by a generous Gaoler and a spiritedly mirror, who welcomed him in from the cold and let him build a nest. Hoshi decided that the clan was nice, settling down for the night. In the morning he wrote a letter to his parents, letting them know of the life he had led, and where he had ended up, telling them that he was now in good hands, and perhaps he might find his calling here, among such spirited dragons.

After a while being in the small Ice clan Hoshi began interacting with the other dragons, one in particular struck him as interesting; The young sorcerer Garen. Garen reminded him quite a lot of Cerish, and the Pearlcatcher decided that he would help Garen learn the consequences in trying to dabble in dark magics. The two of them grew incredibly close, and soon even built a large nest for the two of them to share. The two young dragons were inseparable, going everywhere with one another. If Garen was to try any of the new incantations he would learn, then Hoshi was right there by his side, just in case something happened.

Hoshi and Garen were never without the other, and the clan saw this as interesting, neither of them were interesting in finding a mate, nor having hatch-lings... Though perhaps someday if the right dragoness were to come along... The two might find themselves having a difficult time balancing between their friendship and the consequences of having a family. One day Hoshi got fed up with his clanmates constant bickering about when they would settle down and he said in a great rage; "If there was ever to be a female as wonderful, charming, or intriguing as Garen, then I challenge her to come forth. Until then, I stay loyal to my friend and I wish not to hear any more about 'settling down'." Hoshi then stormed off out of the den, needing a while to cool down. Garen came to comfort him, the young Skydancer wrapped his wings around the small Pearlcatcher and rested his head atop of his friend's. "Ignore them, they don't know what they're talking about." Garen said softly to his steaming friend. Hoshi glanced up the best he could, "In truth, i'm not even interested in having a mate.. Perhaps if the right person where to come along, I might carry out my lineage, but.. I can't see myself without you." The Skydancer smiled at his close friend, "You'll never be without me Hoshi.. I shall always be here for you." The two of them sat in silence for a long while before going back to the den, climbing into their nest, and wrapping themselves around each other, just glad to share one another's company.

It wasn't long until the two of them became smitten with each other. The rest of the clan took a little while getting used to this new change, but they accepted it. The two of them were young, and it was seeable now that they could never be driven apart.
