Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Bea’s earliest memory was one of getting into a fight. Another hatchling had been teasing her, and she threw her clumsy little body into his and aimed her dull baby claws for his eyes. A second later she could feel herself be dragged away and lifted into gentle arms.
“Leetle fighterrrr,” buzzed a voice. “Wherrrrre izz your famileee?”
Bea squeaked, too young and too secluded from other dragons to form proper words.
“Who claimzz thees babee?” asked the calming, buzzy voice. Bea looked up at her captor to see antennae like her own, though where her own face was fuzzy this dragon’s was shiny and smooth, like polished stone.
“No one?” the buzzy voice threatened. Bea could feel the dragon holding her shift into a defensive crouch, as if she was daring someone to come and take Bea away from her. Bea nuzzled into the other dragon’s smooth chest, lulled into sleepiness by the constant drone of buzzing.
“Then sheee izz mine,” said the dragon, turning on her heel and stalking away with Bea safe in her arms. “My own leetle beee,” she whispered to the baby cradled in her arms.

BBea spent her early childhood traveling with Hornet before the pair found Makeshift. Bea was quick to charm everyone with her big attitude stuck in a little body, but Hornet was more reserved. She got twitchy whenever another dragon got too close to her adopted charge. Lumi, the matriarch of the clan, stepped in to help Hornet balance her protective instincts. In the process, Hornet and Bea were absorbed into Lumi’s family and she became a mother to them both. Bea had no trouble making space in her heart for her new brothers, and the trio are as close as if they had all hatched from the same nest. Even as adults, they are a team of mischief makers.

With a guardian like Hornet, it’s no wonder that Bea is always spoiling for a fight. However, Lumi’s influence has gentled Bea’s spirit to only pick fights when she sees injustice or the work of a bully.
