Locked in a forbidden romance with a shadow dragon, Mikhael, who shares his appearance in all but eyes. Since Adam and Mikhael can't breed, he takes it upon himself to create for them a pair of twin white wildclaw hatchlings from the clay of the earth, creating one with light eyes and one with shadow eyes. Adam, while a fierce defender of the Lightweaver (and Mikhael, loyal to the Shadowbinder), will follow his heart if he must. He will lay down his banner and choose Mikhael and their hatchlings over flight loyalty.

He and Mikhael share scars from a past battle between clans when they were forced to fight one another. Mikhael was sent to dismantle the lines of the clan's defense, and picked out Adam as a prettyboy and an easy target, and they ended up fighting tooth and claw in a fight to near death. Impressed and caught off guard, on the battlefield is where the first sparks of interest between them came to life. They feel soon, despite their feelings now, they will be asked by the Lightweaver and Shadowbinder to face off in battle once more.
