Every year as this swan returns to its nesting grounds, it chooses a new sweetheart.

Akihiko was born into a family of Kuro Kitsunes, exiles who hid shinrin-yoku forest from other yokai from their kind. Despite coming from a clear bloodline, his ears and tail had shades of silver- an evidence that his father must have been a Silver Kitsune.
Akihiko spent six years with his mother, treated like a toy, like something other young foxes could test their slowly building powers on.
He was beaten up, schorched, thrown into cold waters of nearby lake, tied to trees.
He learnt to hide how painful it was very quickly, his face became a mask.
Just like that Kitsune mask his father gave him that one, fateful night.
The night young Akihiko was taken from creatures that broke him and was given under care of lady Machimaru.
He was supposed to be Courtesan who knew no fear. Who shined just as brightly as stars!
And each night, young Akihiko dreamed to find someone who could help him take of this awful, lifeless mask.
