“I am the law. The only hands guiding me are those of the Astral Mother and my own. If your criteria fits neither, then standing in my way will be the last decision you ever make...albeit being a rather foolish one.”

BIOGRAPHY

JUDGE OF THE HEAVENS

______ Often referred as the “Consul to the Cosmos”, Iudex de Caelum’s existence is something of an astrological spectacle. He is well known for his abilities in conjuring the “spirits” of the universe. Though it is not a form of divination, many a dragon marvels at his gift with receiving the judgements of the stars, the Moon, the Sun and various celestial bodies across the ceaseless vacuum of space. With his past shrouded in mystery, and his unparalleled talents seemingly in tune with the world around him, this Imperial is quite the popular figure amongst his clanmates. On top of that, his luxurious appearance was an added bonus on his reputation. Yet, this mystifying dreamboat is also known for being ridiculously shrewd. For a stickler so hellbent on rooting out discord, one is to wonder why he joined the Shadow Flight in the first place. Only a select few acknowledges his great debt to the Astral Mother, Pandora, for allowing him to be a part of her clan. Hence forward, Iudex worked his way up until he became the advisor to the Astral Mother, serving her justly. While Iudex knows where his loyalties lie, the dragons of the Sibylline Creed are skeptical of the authoritarian.

Just who is this stranger from beyond our borders, and what does he have in store for our kind?

______ In terms of personality, this Imperial isn’t exactly the most personable of sorts. Although he lacks vulgarity and reckless abandon, the pursuits of Iudex are truly beyond any member of his clan, even the Astral Mother. Pensive and rather prickly, it isn’t uncommon to catch him staring off into space or being lost in thought, but interrupting him as he does so is like asking for an public execution of your reputation. He’ll shake you off at first, but if you do it again, he’ll chew you out like a ravenous wolf upon a hapless little lamb. The exceptions being the Astral Mother, hatchlings and elders. Otherwise, the chances of easing the gravity of his annoyance is slim. It is believed that this time he spends daydreaming is utilized in communing with the cosmos.

______ Despite his stern disposition, Iudex doesn’t exactly qualify as domineering. He knows his place in the clan. He also knows that he, too, is an outsider, and is only there by the grace of the Astral Mother. While he is thankful for her graciousness, Iudex knows that he must rule with an iron fist and an understanding heart. Though the emotion in his words are practically nonexistent, Iudex mainly warns travelers of their clan instead of shunning them completely. This is for their sake alone. He isn’t the softest of souls, but he learned of this clan’s elusive nature when he first ventured within it. He learned of their ways, quick and well. Ambiguity was a sacred value to these dragons. They intended to keep it as such, by whatever means necessary. Whatever grand potential the Astral Mother had seen in him was by pure luck and luck alone. It would not be the same for other lone, clanless dragons. It would never be the same...never again.

DESCENDED

______ All came like a fever dream, for he could not differentiate between reality and fantasy. Glimmering toadstools were the only things that lit up the abyssal thickets around the Imperial. This aside, he found himself coated in an everlasting darkness with the echoes of chittering tricksters filling the empty forest floor. The clanless youth had fallen from the canopies looming above. He attempted to sleep there, but to no avail. The impact was so catastrophic—it had left the draconic adolescent nearly immobile. The only solace the frightened Imperial had found was in the vast, celestial expanse before him; as ridiculous as it seemed, it was almost as if the stars themselves were reaching out to him, consoling him in his hour of need...

______ It wasn’t long until he heard footsteps approaching. His mind was wracked with all sorts of conflicting thoughts. Could it be another dragon? What if they’re apathetic? What if they’re a savage? What if...what if they aren’t even a dragon! They could be one of those filthy Beastclan warriors!
“Ease yourself,” the dragon silenced himself. “Enemy or not, this might be the one chance you have at getting saved.” Weakly but sure, the youth cried out to the oncoming traveler in the dark. He heard the footsteps pick up, sparking joy within the young Imperial. This excitement would soon be extinguished, however.

______ The footsteps didn’t just hasten their pace. They had multiplied as well. From alternating directions, footsteps began to surround the gravely injured Imperial. His worries had skyrocketed as soon as these footsteps were matched with a collective, encompassing chanting. Their voices were low and macabre, almost as if they were summoning something in the Imperial’s area. He could sense the presence of this indomitable figure edging closer with each increasing notch of volume from the chants. With his heart desperately trying to burst forth from his body, the shape of the approaching behemoth and its calmly, unwavering gait was nothing short of chilling. Before beholding the ghostly entity, the Imperial caught wind of what the summoners were saying: “De...scen...ded.....de...scen...ded.” Breaking apart the word, and stretching its sound to its full extent, they had repeated it with vigor and ferocity as their charge of choice came face-to-face with him. Then, with one lifeless, blood-curdling whisper, the unearthly Ancient murmured into the trembling Imperial’s ear: “At last, your Messiah has come. Blessed be onto you, our Descended One....”
