The name Calder, only I added an e. Pronounced KAHL-der. The name means "rough waters; stream; harsh or cold waters"

Hoar frost coated the foreign looking things. "trees", as they were called... Caelder exhaled, breath clouding and billowing around from his snout as he narrowed his eyes. Each inhale was tainted by the scent of shade.

It was everywhere.

"Come Aisling." He broke the silence. The female trotted up to catch up to the towering male's strides. Wide, excited eyes, she panted. "Isn't this exciting?" She glanced around at their surroundings, chest puffing as she breathed in and out. "There's so many things we've never seen before, so many things we don't know!"

Caelder huffed at her, her hair flying backwards on her face briefly. Caelder's owl landed on his shoulder. "Exactly why we need to be careful." He said, scanning the horizon. Aisling looked back at the pawsteps in the deep drifts of snow, and tall, twisting, spires of ice sank slowly down the horizon and faded as they traveled further and further from what had been their home. Caelder stopped, looking back as well.

Their lives would never be the same.

He tore his gaze away and trudged onward, gently flicking his tail against the side of Aisling to remind her to follow. "Surely it can't all be that bad?" She murmured, eyes sparkling with a hopeful look. Caelder smiled. "I hope you're right."

The sky shined with a million stars, glittering like ice crystals. It was rare to see them from the fortress of ends, where it always seemed to be storming. Here, it seemed open skies occurred more often. The quiet was nice, but also uneasy for Caelder. He felt restless.
