Opiskeltuaan luontokäärmeiden parissa kasvienhoitoa ja -kasvattamista Oberon palasi synnyinsijoilleen Tähdenlennon saariryhmään. Hän sai hyvin nopeasti pestin Rusettien hovin pääpuutarhurina muotoiltuaan Chouchoun lempipensaat suloisiksi ruseteiksi palatsin ulkopuolella. Tällä tavoin hän voitti ladyn puolelleen ja miellytti muita hovin lohikäärmeitä.

Työlleen omistautuneena Oberonia näkee vain hovin puutarhassa työn touhussa. Ellei hän ole istuttamassa uusia kasveja, hän on sekoittamassa kasvien kasvamista tehostavaa seerumia tai rikkaruohoja kitkevää myrkkyä. Täten hän on myös läheisissä tekemisissä Myyttisten voimien akatemian kanssa.

Oberonilla on hyvä huumorintaju ja hän on hyvä kuuntelija. Siksi hovin puutarhassa hänellä on usein seuraa lohikäärmeistä, jotka kaipaavat kuuntelijaa huolilleen. Vaikkei Oberon aina osaakaan neuvoa näitä seuralaisiaan, näiden rauhattomat mielet löytävät usein tyyneyden pojan luomista kukka-asetelmista ja istutuksista. Kasvit ovat pojan sydäntä lähellä, jopa niin paljon, ettei hän voi sietää Lazaruksen eläintarhasta karkaavia karkulaisia, jotka sotkevat, toiset jopa yrittävät syödä hänen mestariteoksiaan.
