ABOUT. Qro's presence in the Sentinels of the Sun is a largely invisible one. There were a few issues with him joining -- a special exception had to be made, given his nature as a mechanical construct -- but he proved to be useful and well-educated in the uses and nature of magic. After a few years of trusted service, they assigned him to Sekhmet. It was like commanding a rat to put out a wildfire. Sekhmet was a disgraced paladin who killed the target of her mission along with her team and an entire village with it. She felt no remorse, no sadness; only desire. More fuel. More fire. And her mastery of magic was like no other -- mages with decades of practise couldn't even come close. Qro was to study her, understand how it was possible, and duplicate the results. The first time Qro came to her cell and introduced himself, Sekhmet laughed at him. Spat sparks from her maw (it shouldn't even have been possible, there were magic dampeners on the shackles that restrained her) and told him to crawl back into whatever hole he came from. Qro wanted to turn tail and flee -- so he did. But he came back and kept coming back. Orders were orders, after all. Aphelion, his commander, had told him to do it. Yet the closer he got to Sekhmet, the more pity he felt for her. He knew what it was like, to be studied and dissected and peeled apart layer by layer. There was a non-zero chance that once he'd discovered the secret, she would be executed. He didn't want that to happen. IMPRESSIONS. A mask hides his face and his robes hide everything else. Doesn't give out his name unless requested, doesn't take off the mask unless commanded. Tries his best not to stand out and to be of use when needed. PAST. Created by a Lightborn engineer, Maethor, who believed himself more capable than the Lightweaver, Qro -- then Cynfaen -- was the spitting image of one of the deity's own creations yet untainted by the curse that would befall them after death. He was animated by captured lightning (even now it sparks behind his eyes) and grew up in bright marble halls and temples, a reminder of what he would never be. He learned to watch his back, even within his own home. His presence, his birth, divided his clan's priesthood faction. Was his existence glorious or sacrilegious? An affront to the Lightweaver or a tribute to Her brilliance? Cynfaen survived several assassination attempts before Maethor decided enough was enough and sent him away. CONNECTIONS. Maethor: Creator. Sometimes father figure. Qro doesn't know. The letters stopped coming from home, and Qro doesn't think he can go back. Sekhmet: Subject of (love) interest. Qro's intrigued; he's meant to help the Sentinels study her abilities, but he can't help but pity her. Aphelion: Commander. Qro remains completely loyal to his authority. MISC. he/him lore adapted from @BlueJaysFeather Haven of Fate has some leftover trauma from all those repeated attempts on his life. | xxxxxxxxxxx |
