Amalthea was the eldest of his siblings from his family clan, who would always do anything his parents would say. His loyalty is set in stone. Tragically, his parents died in battle, and when he tried to care for his younger siblings they all deserted him, fed up of his good morals and a need to nurture. Then he met Io and he found his most loyal companion.
Amalthea struggles with breeding dragons for exalt sometimes because he fears they will also die, but he nurtures them as much as he can so they will have the best life possible, no matter what. Other dragons often turn their nose up at Io and Amalthea due to their broad colour range, but he doesn't care. Nothing brings him greater joy than watching his hatchlings grow.
