Bio
The Past
Alma was born into a big family, well over 15 children, which would have been fine, but she didn’t look like either of her parents. She was the direct result of a hidden lover on her mother’s part. Because of this, she was not loved by who was supposed to be her father and every time he looked at her all she saw was pure disgust like it was her fault for what her mother had done. Her mother ignored her too saying she “just wasn’t pretty enough for her time.” So that left her siblings, but they hated her too because she is what split mother and father and made them miserable. So it was no surprise when Alma turned to other, less pristine, dragons in her clan.
There were two dragons that made her feel like a queen in their clan, their names were Mex and Boss or that’s what she and Mex called him. They became her new family, Boss was her father and Mex was her brother. As she grew she was taught things normal dragonets were taught, like how to pickpocket, fight with no mercy, strategy and how to kill. All completely normal things she was told. Alma succeeded in Boss’ classes. Fighting Mex for the love of their adopted father. So she grew used to the praise and forgot to honor her bond with Mex and started to belittle her bother. One day Boss had a mission for them. He had learned from his leader that the Nightshade clan had a habit of taking in unwanted dragons and sometimes would pay a hefty price for the opportunity to take in a runt. So they planed, their map scared with red ink with ideas. Then they studied their target, a small kingdom at the time, they would slip inside at night and capturing every detail, a dent in the eastern wing’s archway, a flame’s love bush in the central courtyard,(a very good place to host a diversion) and some very flimsy windows next to the hatchery, the target. They went over their plan for weeks until Boss deemed them ready to invade the Celestial kingdom.
As they had learned, the snotty royalty didn’t allow just anyone to enter their sacred walls. Only other royalty or traders, So they needed another way in.
Boss ordered Mex to attack her, knowing their rivalry would create more convincing injuries, made worse with the fact Alma couldn’t fight back, Boss’ orders
She limped into the door of the Celestial castle and tired to fall gracefully, but only ended up collapsing due to Mex’s relentless attacks.
“Get Ru or...or someone, who knows about healing!”
“Here get her over here!”
The voices swam in her head as the blood loss got to her, she looked down at the damage he had done and the sight of her robin scales covered in Ruby blood surprised her. Sure she’d seen blood before, just not so much and never coming from her body. She past out with a final wild grab for consciousness.
She woke up a while later in a bright room light with glowing yellow orbs and covered in bandages.
“Get me more poppy seeds the patient is not ready to wake yet,” Said a calm sounding voice. The owner of the voice was a blue pearlcatcher, she had butterfly patterns in her wings and was rubbing her pearl with her thumb in circular motions. She was nervous. This made Alma nervous.Am I really that bad off? she thought to herself.
She was allowed to wake a day later. Relief washed over her as she was told that she was fine and only suffered minimal scaring. Alma was questioned then and she spun a wild story of losing her traveling family in the waste of the Shadelands, after that they left her past alone, mostly. The curious dragons asked her about her adventures traveling the world, of course every story out of her mouth was a lie, but the gullible light dragons didn't know that. Alma became a bit of a clan icon in the short time she was in the castle with her woefully tragic stories that all ended in wishing she could get alway from her sad, sad memories. All part of the mask she wore to complete her part of the mission so close to completion.
Alma was exalted.
Her stories worked too well and the clan sent her off to live a peaceful life as a light cadet to heal her ‘broken’ mind. Her heart broke as her tranced body lead her to Lightweaver. An honor for sure, not just any dragon is graced by a deity, let alone a deity’s hidden place, but Alma was filled with guilt. She had failed her father, the only dragon who cared for her.
After what felt like months ( which was probably about four days, sulking takes a lot of time) Lightweaver sent her back, acknowledging that this life was for Alma just yet, though Alma suspected it was because Lightweaver didn't like a useless cadet.
The day of the break-in
It was the day of the break-in Alma was ready she had everything they needed. She slunk out of Celestial proper and met up with Mex and Boss. Where she told them everything from the guard’s schedule to the exact location of the target.
Boss laughed “ kids we’re gonna get rich!” As Bosses laugh faded away Alma felt fuzzy, she hadn’t failed him. Then the sky darkened. Glancing up Alma realized they were in the middle of an eclipse. “ Common’ kids that’s our queue,” Boss said while quickly starting to put on his gear. Mex followed Boss’ lead and Alma scrambled to move quickly through her shock.
“ Wait you knew about this? I thought we were going to set the courtyard on fire.”
“ We were, but while you were busy playing Light cadet,I snooped around and found out about the eclipse, its a very special occasion for Light dragons everyone will be outside” Mex said smugly. Boss then leaped over the berry bushes that obscured the Celestial kingdom’s towers, Mex Followed after him, while Alma growled to herself as she yanked her mask on and pelted after them.
The eclipse was almost at its zenith as the mirror dragons ran full speed at the side of the castle and jumped toward the window, shattering it, while all the occupants were out in the courtyard. The group Swiftly regrouped and did their parts in the heist.
“Hey you there! What do you think you’re doing?” Yelled a deep voice.
“Everyone would be outside huh” Alma growled as she threw herself at the guard. Mex, having some sense slipped into the hatchery as Alma and Boss distracted the guard.
“I got it!’ Mex cried as he hurtled out of the window, the other following suit. Cries were heard gathering as the robbed clan pursued the egg snatchers. They ran fast, the path to the Tanglewood engraved in their mind as they heard thundering footsteps in the distance.
