Name comes from the Tolkien universe.

Valar hatched shortly after Mandos' arrival in the clan, much to the fear of her parents. No other dragon had ever been born in the clan with eyes that shed ice, and they believed that the curse must have come from Mandos himself. Desperate to protect her from both herself and the world, as well as protect the world from her and what she might become, Ornan and Alora begged Icheb to allow Valar to stay in the clan, even as her nest mates left. Icheb agreed, believing himself that it was best to try and keep this curse contained.

Valar resented being forced to stay home with her parents at first, acting out by training with Talyn and Kyan, two of the clan's elite warriors. However, it wasn't long before she found herself greatly enjoying life at home. She trained hard, attended well to her studies, and was soon viewed as a valued member of the clan, despite her strange eyes.

As it stands, nothing has ever come of her curse, or any of the other cursed ones in the clan. However, the remainder of the uncursed in the clan still don't trust them completely, always keeping one eye on the lot of them, waiting for them to snap. The only dragon who never looked at her like she was different, was Elboron, a dragon who had enough problems of his own, and had also been forced to stay in the clan by his parents. The two grew very close, even raising a single hatchling together, Kelvar, the first daughter of a cursed dragon born into the clan. Luckily, she did not share in her mother's curse...

Just as the clan had given Watcher to Mandos to watch him, they gave his mate, Glory, to Valar, to keep her company and to keep an eye on her. The two bonded quickly, despite Valar's initial anger and being assigned a keeper by her clanmates.

Glory is a sweet and gentle soul, the sweetpuff half of her mated pair. She loves and cares deeply for all the dragons of the clan, but most of all for her charge, Valar. Before Valar came along, she lived a quiet, albeit lonely life, with Watcher running around after his own charge, Mandos, all the time. Now, the pair frequently travel together, since both of their charges are labeled as 'cursed'. She doesn't fully understand what is going on with either of the dragons, or any of the others who have turned up since that have been labeled thus, but they all live together with their keepers in a separate part of the cave that the clan calls home.

She worries about the day that something does happen, however, and her charge changes for the worst. Glory can feel something growing within her, and she worries about it day and night, keeping close watch on Valar, waiting for that something to happen...
