 Considered the rarest cat in the world, as of 2017 there is believed to be only 60 Amur Leopards left in the wild. At one time, there were only 19. The largest threat to them is poaching and destruction of their habitat.

Built for the colder forests in Russia, these leopards are much paler in comparison to their other leopard cousins, making them adapted for hunting in the snow. Due to little food in cold winter months, they are adapted for scavenging carcasses of the victims of the cold spell.

Conservation efforts of these animals has undoubtedly helped increase their population, and they're growing ever still, but these efforts can be aided by awareness of the effects of poaching and deforestation.
