Hedley

Hedley's name comes from, "a surname which was derived from a place name meaning "heather clearing" in Old English.”

Hedley is the thirdborn of Amaya and Puck, as well as the third dragon born to the clan. Hedley has been a positive spirit since birth: when his sister Melantha pounced on him when they first hatched, he began to playfully tumble about her. This confused the young aggressive Melantha, so she stopped her attack only to attack her brother Titian.

Though Hedley is a an overall happy dragon, he also contains a quick-wit about him, like his father Puck. His ability to navigate social interactions through well-placed humor is a skill of his the dragons of the clan admire. When his father and him have a go at it with each other, playfully bantering back and forth, the rest of the dragons of the clan eagerly watch the free entertainment.

Hedley's happiness might lead some dragons to believe he is a nonserious, carefree daydreamer. However, this misconception could not be further from the truth. Hedley's passion for positivity is something he wishes to spread throughout the clan, making a point to show others how they too can be happy through the choices they make and the words they say. He has yet to fully reach his sister Melantha, though he knows deep down there is a happy dragon within her who enjoys his company. He is one of the few dragons of the clan Melantha fully tolerates, and one could even say loves, and he is also one of the few dragons that can quickly and intelligently dismantle her snide remarks with a joke and a smile.

Hedley now enjoys the company of Lazuli, in addition to his siblings and parents. Once Lazuli began to speak, Hedley could observe the young dragon's desire to communicate well. Intentionally, Hedley would spend time with the young Lazuli, sharping his growing speech with banter games and rhymes. Now one of his closest friends within the clan, Hedley can be very protective of his Imperial companion. In fact, at times when Melantha or Scirocco can be too aggressive towards Lazuli, the mildest form of anger can be seen to flit across the Mirror dragons' eyes (an uncommon occurrence for an otherwise happy dragon).
