ORIGIN

Born to a Star Spirit and a Coatl, Starlet was never ordinary. She had an affinity for magic, heightened senses, and a deep thirst for knowledge, something that often got her into trouble. She would go out and explore daily, discovering new ways to use her magic, often practicing with her Star Spirit father. As her talent grew and grew, she became more and more focused on improving, and less and less on her family and friends. She didn't even notice how her mother became weaker and frailer, the way her plumage faded slowly. And then her mother died. This broke her heart, knowing that she pushed her mother away, knowing that she would never see her knowing smiles or hear her kind cooing. As time went on, her father fell in love with a beautiful, golden Coatl, and left Starlet. His last words to her were, “You just look too much like your mother.”

Starlet was all on her own. She vowed revenge on her father and dove back into her training with more intensity than ever before. Her power grew and grew and with them, her ambitions. She became power-hungry and crazed, only caring for herself. Soon, she began to hear rumors of an ambitious, young Imperial, working for the Shadow Bender, trying to usher in an age of chaos under her reign. Thinking the Shadow Bender could bring her more power, Starlet sought out Icanum, and vowed her allegiance to the Shadow Bender. She gave her soul to her, and in return became an all-powerful sorceress. Soon, she heard more rumors, of a gorgeous, golden, Coatl, more powerful and beautiful than even her. Only someone with a spirits blood could even come close to her, and Starlet knew who it was. Her half-sister. Starlet soon found out the girl’s name was Ember, and then and there Starlet knew how she would go. She would burn.

Starlet tried to kill her sister, luring her to a fiery end with her magic. Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan. The young dragon was infatuated by the flames, but before she could step into the inferno, her mother threw herself in front of her daughter. Starlet watched as the beautiful dragons plumage shriveled as they caught aflame. Starlet realized her mental control on Ember, a gleefully watched the dragon’s mother turn to ash. Starlet was satisfied enough with the victory and returned to Icanum. She continued to help Icanum and the Shadow Bender in their wicked deeds, and everything was perfect, but not for long. A few years later she caught word that her father had been at it again, this time with another Star Spirit. Starlet felt threatened, knowing that, for all her training and skill, if a full spirit tried to stop her, they could. She set out to kill her baby sister, Ara.

Starlet snuck into the baby’s home in the dead of night, to see her father and his new partner fast asleep. She made quick work of them both. The baby was nestled on a soft pile of straw, the night sky displayed across her peaceful body. Then the baby woke. Her big blue eyes were speckled with silver and gold, and the galaxy across her body came to live, ever-changing and bright. Ara’s eyes darted around the room, and at the sight of the spilled silver blood, something in her snapped. The silver and gold in her eyes spread, creating an intricate pool of power in her eyes. Her little galaxy consumed her, creating a ball of pure energy. And at the center of it all, a star. It hummed and pulsed with power blinding Starlet. Next thing she knew, she was back at Icanum’s lair. But something was different she limped over to a pool of water, and a stranger stared back at her. The entire left side of her body was sizzling, charred and deformed. Starlet vowed revenge on her sisters, and she, truly, became evil.
