Biography
Moonbeam, a spiral dragon so tiny she looked like a hatchling, perched anxiously near the cliff-side cave, brambles and thorns twisting around the entrance and concealing it from immediate view, a safe cover from any passing threats.
A few hours ago she'd "seen" a group of other dragons beginning to gather somewhere nearby, although since it had been a vision, she was unsure where they actually were.
More would be coming to join them, of that she was certain, but she was unsure of how soon.
Most importantly, someone would soon be joining her here, in this cliff-side cave: another Seer like herself, a soul-bound sister.
Yet as much as she'd seen about what had happened and what was going to happen, she had not seen what this dragon would look like... only that she would be a plague dagon, and that she too would possess many eyes.
Moonbeam hadn't been here long; it had only been one full day since she'd arrived. She'd managed to clean out the cave enough to comfortably suit two dragons of medium size, or a dragon of large size and one a small one, such as herself. She knew she would arrive a day before the other dragon, and so that had given her time to prepare.
However, night was approaching, and her plague sister had not yet arrived. Moonbeam was growing anxious.
The little dragon leapt from her perch and flew down the side of the shallow cliff into the Driftwood Drag, gliding over the trees that hugged the river as she searched for a dragon that would meet the description of the second Seer.
She searched for a while from the sky, but to no avail; the rotting logs clogged the riverbank, the sound of the water quietly lapping against their mossy sides. A lone crow called out sullenly from a nearby tree.
Moonbeam sighed, landing on a log for a moment to catch her breath.
"Where are you," she whispered. "How am I to be your eyes if I can't even find you..." She glanced up at the sky; the darkness concealed the sun completely, yet she knew sundown was approaching quickly.
Behind her, a rustling came from the thicket of pines and scraggly undergrowth, soft at first, but then louder as it grew closer...
Moonbeam coiled tightly, preparing to leap from the log and back into the sky at the sight of a hostile creature, but instead, a Pearlcatcher emerged before her. The dirty, exhausted plague dragon glanced up, her blind eyes staring blankly at the much smaller dragon before her.
"It's you!" Moonbeam sprung from the log, landing daintily on the ground before the second dragon before standing straight up, using her coiled tail for support. She could barely stand eye-to-eye with the larger dragon.
The blind Pearlcatcher squinted, the eyes on her sides blinking irregularly as she did so.
"You must be Moonbeam," she said.
"That's me," replied the Spiral excitedly. "I... I'm sorry but I don't know what your name is... it never came to me."
"I wasn't given one," said the Pearlcatcher, her voice somewhat sullen. "But I've decided to call myself Starshine." She lowered her head slowly as she clutched her pearl to her chest.
"It seemed... fitting."
"I think it fits you very well," replied Moonbeam with a smile. "You must be exhausted... come with me, I found a cave on the nearby cliff and I've tidied it up a bit while I was waiting. I'll lead you there."
She gently placed the tip of her tail on Starshine's wrist. The vision from Moonbeam's own eyes slowly joined the flashing, never-ending bits and pieces of past, future, and present within Starshine's mind's eye, this new "vision" growing clearer and more coherent than the others the longer the little Spiral was in contact with her. Starshine accepted the gift, and Moonbeam led her to their new, humble lair.
