They promised her relief from the light that flared and twisted within her, whispers of a better purpose and sight that did not blind. All she had to do was give in to the elements that flared within her. The whispers would lead her those who could help. Fool that she was, she believed them, though she had her doubts. If only she had known what those doubts would subject her to, she would have fled far, far away from the Bloodborn dragonkin with their golden claws and sinister whispers.

It was far too late now.

The light poured out of her in strobing waves, piercing agony flowing out from within as her blood soaked her form and coalesced around her, drawing in whatever soul lingered, waiting. It should have been clean, a fresh new start born in power and strength, but those reprehensible doubts, remained to taint the gold as it traced elegant patterns back into her hide. The pale color mocked her, branded her. It ensured that she could not forget the doubts the former soul left behind- whispers that something was amiss, that things were not all that they seemed.

Her light eyes left her cursed to see it sometimes as well. A glimpse here and there, out of the corner of her eyes- illusions wreathed around the temples of her new birthright. But she knew better than to say anything. She could feel the power wafting off the other dragons, so, so much greater than her own. And she could see the way they looked at her, ensuring she knew her place.

With no other option, she would keep her head down, do as she was told, and strive her hardest to ignore the whispers of doubt etched in pale filigree across her skin- for now...
