Arc hails from a distant clan in the Molten Scar, famous for forging armor and blade by hand. As a hatchling, Arc could often be seen scampering to and fro, peering up at the handsome knights and warriors who humbly (or sometimes brusquely) asked for one of their finest blades. The young Wildclaw was often spotted staring longingly at them. As Arc grew into an adolescent, he found himself being more and more fascinated by their way of life: he began his metal forging apprenticeship in order to get closer to these elusive warriors.

Over the course of a few years, Arc grew more and more interested. Arc wasn’t just enamoured with their shiny armor and sheen of their blades; he was also captivated by the tales of terror and war many of these warriors cooked up. Of course, not all of the stories were true, but any adolescent can’t really be expected to know the difference. This all cumulated in the day Arc announced to his family he was going to take up the blade and bear the title of knight himself. His brothers and sisters were stunned, and his mother and father were more than a little worried for the brash young Wildclaw. Nonetheless, they allowed him his journey when Arc pointed out that he was now of age. He was going to find a mentor and become the best warrior ever, just they watch!

Thrilled, Arc put his expertise to good use: his armor and blade was made by himself personally, putting some stylistic flair to them to call them his own. It only looks slightly pompous currently because his father restrained him from making his weapon and armor too ridiculously cool. “How would you ever move in that?” he scolded him affectionately.

However, Arc soon met an obstacle in the form of his own glittery wings and scales. No sooner had he bid farewell to his family did he find hordes upon hordes of enemies curiously attracted to the sparkling moonlight reflected off his own hide. Unfortunately wearing armor doesn’t give you instant fighting skills. His bubble burst, Arc ran through the night, keeping his supplies safe as he attempted to keep a low profile.

He wasn’t sure where he was when the sun finally rose. Arc peered up at the bamboo shoots before his mind helpfully supplied him with the information that this was most likely Wind territory. Wary, Arc gripped his sword tight as he made his way through the Zephyr Steppes. Thirst and hunger soon stopped him in his tracks, however, and the young Wildclaw was forced to take a break. Arc looked at his pitiful supply store and couldn’t help but wish he had thought to bring more treasure and gems with him.

He was startled by a Skydancer with wings so similar to his own, false eyes peering out at him through the bushes. The Skydancer who had spotted Arc introduced herself as Stone. Though her rugged, battle-worn armor scared Arc, he soon relaxed after noting the gentle look beneath her helmet.

Stone guided Arc back towards her clan. As she explained, it was a clan who kindly offered travellers a place to stay, and freely accepted new clanmates should they decide Wind was their home. Intrigued, Arc agreed to stay for a few days and recuperate. There, he was taken in by the friendly dragons who fussed and doted over him. What was a young Wildclaw like him doing out in the open? Arc explained his motives for his quest, before he kneeled at Stone’s feet and asked her to take him on as an apprentice. At first, she froze, making Arc’s blood run cold. But then, a little hesitant, Stone accepted his request, and Arc had successfully found himself a kind mentor.

Now, Arc has started a new life as a warrior’s apprentice. Often, he finds himself in direct competition with Kayne’s apprentice Murk. The prickly Ridgeback didn’t think much of this impulsive, air-headed Wildclaw at first, but after spar after spar, they’ve formed a bond with each other. Murk grudgingly opened up to Arc, and Arc responded in kind by regularly taking Murk to look at cool things he spotted around their clan territory.

As for life under Stone? Well... unfortunately Arc’s swordfighting abilities don’t match up to his enthusiasm. His grip is shaky and clumsy, he swings his sword all over as though trying to swat a fly, and his stances seem to favour form over function. Stone has to correct him constantly, over and over again. Still, Arc is nothing if not determined. Every day, he gets up before sunrise to practice attacking wooden targets and stretch his muscles until they’re sore.

Not only has Arc been drilling his combat abilities harshly, he also has brought his forging abilities to the table. Equipped with many years of experience, he’s able to mend and repair any of his clanmate’s weapons and forge new ones. He had trouble with some like Velvet’s bow, but with enough practice Arc has managed to succeed. It may be a little early, and Stone might be reaching, but the Skydancer’s gut feeling tells her that this Wildclaw may well be one of the best metalforgers Sornieth has ever seen, and it’s a real pity he’s focusing on the wrong thing. Still, Stone does her best to impart all her skills and knowledge onto Arc. If nothing else he will be the greatest forger AND fighter to have ever graced Sornieth.

Arc likes to drag Murk around on adventures. Murk is not amused. Occasionally they bicker over who has the cooler mentor.
