basilisk is the leader of a subset of very peculiar dragons; put simply, he runs a literal cult. father basilisk is a dangerous and unnerving individual, but his followers find no fault in him. all members wear skulls as masks, so perhaps their true feelings are as hidden as their identities. often these skulls are dragon like in origin (these are the easiest to find... or make..).
but they can wear the skulls of any animals - and they're all named after something relating to their mask origins, with variations. for example: followers wearing the masks of deer can be buck, doe, fawn, sitka, whitetail, antler - dragon masks can be draco, wyrm, scale, talon, drake, imperial. there can be some exceptions, but this is the general rule of thumb.
many choose a 'familiar' of their mask's species as well - father basilisk's skull crown is that of a hydra from the volcanic vents, and his chosen familiar is a leucistic king cobra (name coming soon).
