Nobody quite knows where Rourke came from- he just showed up one day and asserted himself. Saeichi found him passed out on the shore and took him in, but he claimed to have no memories of who he was and how he got there. Not one to leave a child unattended in the wild, she told the young dragon he could stay- thus he quickly settled in and made a name for himself. He shows a bit of a skeptical outlook towards the eleven deities, believing in his own power and the abilities of his fellow dragons over the word of any God. This is far from just empty words, as his skill in battle is unparalleled. The first time a rogue beastclan attacked the Corsairs, even though he had no memory of any experience with fighting, Rourke proved to be exceptionally skilled at powerful blows and complicated breath spells. He was able to work together with the clan to take down the beasts swiftly and efficiently. Word of his prowess in battle reached the clan leader, and Wraith immediately viewed Rourke with suspicion. A hatchling dragon with no memories that has terrifying abilities just happens to wash up on their shore? Since the child showed no animosity towards his clan, Wraith has since allowed him to stay, but is looking into his origins on the side- for both of their sakes. Despite his mysterious past and unexplained presence in the Corsairs, Rourke has embraced this with open arms, and he will do all he can to help those he cares about- one sarcastic quip at a time. |

Even with his amnesia, Rourke manages to have an upbeat (albeit a bit cynical) attitude, often brightening the moods of dragons around him. He enjoys pulling the occasional prank on his clanmates, much to the annoyance of some- but he has yet to be caught in the act due to his cleverness and agility. His naiveté as an amnesiac means that Rourke doesn’t really understand the concept of showing respect to his superiors, so even if he's told off, he doesn't really take it to heart. He can be pretty clueless on many aspects of dragonkind and ways of living in the Corsairs, and thus relies a lot on his friends to guide him. Though, more often than not, his attitude gets him into oddly hilarious circumstances that he has to dance out of- much to the amusement of passersby. Rourke's wry sense of humor is his "best weapon", as he words it- it helps to alleviate the stress of those around him... or so he thinks. His smart mouth can make him seem abrasive at times and he has a history of driving his clanmates up a wall. Don’t mistake this snarky attitude for a callous nature, though- Rourke cares deeply for those he considers his closest allies, and will not hesitate to drop the sarcasm and act as a pillar of support for his comrades. The one thing that always has to be perfect in his eyes are his mane and wings. Rourke prides himself on his silky, starry fur and sparkling wings, so if they get dirty or matted, he gets in an incredibly foul mood. Much of his day is spent preening his wings and bathing in freshwater springs to keep himself in tip-top shape. He tries to not worry much about his origins, but it gets to him sometimes- he rarely voices his concerns, but being such a young dragon with powers above his ken makes him wary of his heritage. He hides this with pranks and snide jokes, but it eats at him in the quiet of the night. If anything, it makes him more determined to shape his own destiny; not one decided by fate. |
