Biography
Arbalest is not an official member of the Amber Down, no. He's an intern.
He's Kimuri's former intern.
He just wanted to learn magic from the best of the best, but Kimuri was an awful teacher. That's not to say he didn't learn at all: he can fetch coffees with the best of them, is better at calming down angry dragons than anyone else in the group, and has been taking physical combat lessons from Sefrond on the side ever since the Wildclaw realized how little practical knowledge he was gaining.
In the time since Kimuri's disappearance, Arbalest has remained with the Amber Down. It was difficult to care whether the old arcanist was dead or had just abandoned him and, either way, Arbalest wasn't inclined to follow him. Being the technical "intern" (more like a secretary, most days) to a bunch of mercenaries is still more productive than sticking with his former mentor, and on good days Crispin and Dunwich even provide some magical mentoring.
