Hailing from parts unknown, Despoina is as inscrutable as she is golden; It is whispered that she acquired forbidden knowledge at some point in her obscure history, but she only smiles wickedly when asked. Sphinx-like in her nature, she hoards secrets and mysteries like one might collect treasure or trinkets, yet she is not as infallible as she would lead you to believe.

There exists a dragon, older than even she, that seems to be not only her match, but also a source of guidance and advice (as well as – though she would never admit it, heavens no, – companionship). Asterian knows the truth about her, of her origin, much like she knows snippets and stolen thoughts of others. He seems unwilling to share, and she is silently thankful for that. It is not his tale to tell.

True to her name, Desponia speaks in riddles and with the smug air of one who knows too much and explains too little. She has little tolerance for those who would waste her time with trivialities or simple-minded questions. Even the most scholarly may draw her ire, as after all...
