A fourth tier dragon and commander of the soldiers, under the direct command of the Warlord. Responsible for the attacking front. Has a role in battle strategy as well as on the frontline, although always under the Warlord's command.

The dragons of the Avarice clan cannot decide if Seranus is beautiful, in a strange way, or simply grisly and visceral to look at. His star-patterned wings, the first in the clan, draw the eye to a feathered galaxy of maroon and cream, and yet there's something about his colouring that calls to mind flesh laid bare, exposed muscle, and drying blood. In his warriors garb he certainly looks more frightening than alluring, and the giant pale Toridae that is never far from his side - all heaving bulk and slavering jaws - adds strikingly to the effect.

The truth is, Seranus doesn't care what the other dragons of the clan think of him, with the sole exception of the Warlord and it's not his looks the Warlord is interested in. Seranus, like Anarchy, was born in an already harsh territory - the Molten Scar in this case - but tempered himself for many years in the even harsher Plaguelands. After all, Plague dragons believe in survival of the fittest above all else, and Anarchy and Seranus are of the shared opinion that true warriors needs to be survivors.

The Warlord has a single daughter who remains with the clan, bred with his long-term mate Soleil, the Light Ambassador. Favoured though she is, the young Skydancer has always been a bargaining chip in her father's eyes. After her first mating to a gentle water dragon named Abyss failed to bring about the kind of alliance that would benefit the clan, Anarchy arranged his death on the battlefield so that when the Diplomat found Seranus, a young and virile warrior still living in the Wyrmwound, he had something to offer the ruthless dragon in exchange for fighting for the clan instead. Seranus moved to the Beacon to claim both the position of Lieutenant, leader of the Avarice soldiers and the attacking front, and a new mate in Fairytale - beautiful, elegant, and practically royalty within the clan.

Unfortunately for Fairytale, Seranus is not a gentle or loving mate. As brutal as Anarchy, and nearly as deadly, he lacks the Warlord's more even temperament. He is unpredictable, moody, violent, and although he does not direct his rage at Fairytale - whom he does covet, if not love - she lives in terror of him. He is jealously protective of her, prone to lashing out a dragons who he imagines desire her, and is cruelly possessive at times. Still, he's young yet, and has good role models in Anarchy and Soleil. Perhaps he'll yet learn to treat his mate more gently.
