Biography

Clan of the Dragon Dryad
Ferlariate and Grydella were a mated pair. Unfortunately the clan they were in was getting too big and just seemed overwhelming at times. Because of this they decided to spread out on their own and try to find a place to start a new clan. They searched high and low, day in and day out.
One day they came upon a spot that they both fell in love with as soon as their eyes came across it. It was a beautiful little clearing next to a babbling brook that flowed from a miniature waterfall. Just at the bottom of the falls was an ancient looking tree that just looked like it belonged.
It was late in the day and they both decided to settle in for the night in their new spot. Since they didn’t have much with them it didn’t take long. As they settled in for the night they hoped to dream of leading a prosperous new clan.
As they slept they both did in fact dream. Although it didn’t seem like a dream as it felt very real. They were standing in the clearing they had found but it was day time. A ray of light shone through some of the trees bordering the clearing and happened to shine directly on the ancient tree. All of a sudden the tree started to shift and move. The next thing they knew they were both staring at the shape of a dragon but the texture was still of the tree. “Why do you think you are worthy to stay in my Glen?” Ferlariate and Grydella looked at each other. They really didn’t know what to say. Grydella finally decided to tell the mysterious dragon what was in her heart. “We probably aren’t worthy for such a wondrous spot, the clan we are from was getting to be overwhelming. They wanted to fight all the time. We only want to be loving and prosperous. We want our offspring to know more than fighting. We want them to know peace and prosperity. This glen seems to exude the traits we want our clan to have. We know it won’t always be easy but we are both hard workers and we hope to only take in others who wish to live as we do.” As she finished Ferlariate nodded his head in the affirmative to let the dragon know he felt the same as Grydella. The mysterious dragon looked at them as if he was looking straight into their hearts. After what seemed like an eternity he spoke again. “I have looked into your hearts and souls and what you have said is true. I would be happy to have you stay within my glen as long as you don’t lose your way. I will keep watch over you. Live well and live long.” The mysterious dragon started to shift and move again and the next thing they knew the tree was back in its spot. They curled around each other in happiness and love.
Next thing they knew they were opening their eyes and the sun was rising on yet another day. They looked at each other and knew they both had the same dream. Or was it more of a vision? Whatever it was they knew that they would keep their part of the agreement so that they could stay and live and have a prosperous clan. Ferlariate said, “We shall be known as the Clan of the Dragon Dryad, in honor of our visitor.” As they looked over at the tree they saw something near the ancient tree. As they both moved closer they realized it was a dragon egg.
They looked at each other confused as they knew it wasn’t there when they arrived. They looked around the clearing trying to see if anyone else was around. They even called out but only heard the normal sounds of nature in return. They couldn’t leave it there as dragon eggs need warmth in order to hatch. Ferlariate started searching for proper nesting material and Grydella moved the egg to an area that would allow her to better keep it warm until Ferlariate was able to finish. In no time at all there was enough of a nest to make Grydella happy. Eventually they would need a bigger nest but for now this one would do.
