Busily buzzing around, he followed his mother and father. Deep into the hive and even further into their rooms. The first room they had was primarily for entertaining visitors and important meetings. They both sat down across from him in a chair big enough for both of them.

“Son,” his father spoke, “we believe that you are of a mature age.”

His mother added in, “It’s in your own best interest that we suggest you to leave.”

He was confused. He didn’t understand what they were talking about and that showed clearly on his face.

His mother continued, “You are of Royal Jelly. You are meant to lead a hive along side of a Queen. We feel that you are mature enough and knowledgeable enough about making honey and the inner workings of a hive to go out and start your own.”

His father nodded with her, “We will pack up plenty for your journey. Don’t be afraid. Honey Tummies have done this for a very long time. Many dragons understand that you come peacefully.”

He didn’t have anything to say. Words couldn’t seem to find their way out of his throat. He swallowed, “Are you sure?”
It was all he could think of to ask. He didn’t feel ready but his parents had never made a bad decision with him.

They both nodded. “We already have a good idea of a spot for you to go as well. We have found you a clan past the Windswept Plateau, it’s located in the Scarred Wasteland.”

Concern immediately shot through him, “I thought plants can’t grow in the wastes? How would a hive of bees survive there?”

“Shhhh, don’t worry we’ve already thought this through. Through our talks with the clan, they have an entire grove of tree dragons and plants that are protected from the plague,” his mother comforted him.

He fell back to silence. He was unsure to say the least, but he wanted to make his parents proud and form his own hive.

“Okay. I’ll try my best.”

Satisfied with this answer, his parents brought him his things. They had been packed up during the conversation. They had a senior guard and a dragon to carry things waiting outside of the hive.

And buzzing away he went, nervous but hopeful for his new hive.
