A legend from Thalimain
When nights are clear at the top of the highest spires of Thalimain you can see lights in the sky. They are said to be the gods writing in the heavens or playing music in the cosmos. The colors are under heavy research from astronomers and astrologers of Thalimain including the priest and clerics. Given the name Painting of the Gods they are common place around all of Eagle at the highest peaks, most commonly in Thalimain, Tarazed, Tseen Foo, and parts of Alshain. But more rare is said to be a daytime phenomena. Times when the sun in low or heavy clouds and you can see similar lights as the night aurora. They glow in the muted sunlight like waves on the beach, moved by the motion of the winds. The phenomena has only been recorded in history and is so rare most people think it's just a story. The new priest of Thalimain is obsessed with seeing the day lights for themselves. She's asked her god of these things and he assures he it is real but not even he knows when or how they come about. Until then Sage will wait at the top of the new temple of Thalimain and watch, and wait. Before the religion of now there were more gods. Gods of the air, water, and earth. And while they are all gone the things they created remained. The Winding Lights were created by a powerful air god who, before the fiasco with the stars, felt great love and admiration for the fire god who had created the Paintings of the Gods. Seeking their attention and to show they weren't as flighty or erratic as other wind gods they created the Winding Lights in ultimate show of mimicry and admiration for what they had made. This pleased the star to see their wind brethren show so much interest and passion as they did and grew closer to them. When the Gods War began the other elemental gods closest to the stars were the first to be smited by the priests, seeing them as phonies or those who were simply making fun of their stars. The wind god was destroyed by an ancient Sirius priest. The star mourned deeply and never took a priest themself, never even claimed their right of worshipers after the War was over. Their name is now forgotten even as they continue to let the Paintings of the Gods play across the sky, hoping that during the day the Winding Lights may mirror back their long lost love. |
