Mystai didn't expect this. Her death was so sudden, so painful she was taken by complete surprise when the wolves attacked her. She slayed many, but not enough before being overpowered and killed. Her adventures didn't last long at all upon wandering on the Southern Icefield. Her spirit got trapped within her body, memories slowly fading away as she lay, motionless, for years, until the last bit of her memories disappeared, replaced by an empty void of nothingness.
Mystai's body was found by a patrol of dragons from Snorad. They almost missed her as she was submerged under the snow, if not for one of the dragon's there. He had the ability to sense her spirit trapped in her body. Willow alerted everyone the presence of a dead dragon's body and began excavating, his patrol helping out until the found the poor Imperial. It took them a while, but eventually they dragged Mystai's body back to the camp where with the help of Vulcan the ice was melted away in most parts. Bedwyr recognized her as an Earth dragon and told Overfrost this.
Bedwyr tried convincing Overfrost that if she could be somehow brought back to life she should live in his cave when Willow asked everyone to leave him alone with the body. There was a spirit inside, and he wanted to release it. Everyone knew better than to argue and helped him drag the body to the base of the tree. Ice remained stuck on parts of her body, unable to be melted away and staying as a grim reminder of her fate.
Willow released Mystai's spirit once he was left alone in the darkness. There was no more memory left inside so he simply told her he saved her and now she has to become her minion to stay alive. Mystai agreed, handing herself over. She didn't know Willow, but that didn't matter. She was semi-alive once again, and her own spirit's life depended on the very Imperial. The Imperial who fed her lies.
