Biography

Named Exotic
Exo wasn’t a Guardian, but there was no doubt that he was searching for something as he flitted about the trading post stalls. He circled Crim’s Cart twice really fast before nearly colliding into a familiar flank.
“Whoa there! What’s got you all fired up?”
“Firefly.” Exo called out as he shot past his friend. Quickly he corrected his movements and returned to hover in front of the Guardian. “Today is the day I meet my destiny.” Though he spoke in monotones typical of his species, his crest quivered to convey his excitement.
“Oh?” Firefly was rummaging through his pack to see if he had anything Crim wanted and was only half listening.
“Yes, I said DESTINY.” Exo said the word louder to try and get more of a reaction. “The exact words of the fortune were ‘Your life will be enriched with fruit.’ The travelling fortune teller assured me that it’d be a life-changing experience, so I just know I’m going to somehow become rich thanks to a fruit. She said to look out for an orange in particular, or something like that.”
“Fortune teller?” Firefly’s full attention was on the Fae. “What fortune teller? I've only seen the usual stalls today.”
“She’s right over there.” Exo turned and waved at a female fae sitting under a dark awning.
“I wouldn't trust anything she says to go exactly how she says it....”
“Why?” Exo turned to his friend, one crest was raised higher than the other to show his confusion. “She had a really weird large hat, but she was pretty nice. She even had a shiny crystal sphere - the real deal for sure. I bet she’d tell your fortune too if you asked.”
“She’s not a travelling fortune teller. That’s Medu...” Firefly had been looking in the direction the female fae was when he recoiled. “Nevermind… just be careful,” he muttered. Then he nodded towards Crim and took off in the opposite direction of the fortune teller.
“Wait, I wanted you to help me search for fruit.” Exo called out, but Firefly had already passed beyond the perimeter of the trading post and out of hearing range.
“Were you looking for me?”
Exo turned around. “Hi Fru. Actually I’m looking for…” His crests slowly fell. “Is your full name Fruit?”
“Yep, though everyone just calls me Fru now.”
The Guardian’s facial expressions were hard for Exo to read, so he mimicked the slight nod he always saw Firefly use as an affirmation. “And if you don’t mind telling me, what is the color of your body scales?”
“That's an odd thing to ask when you can see them just fine. They’re orange.” Fru turned in a tight circle, allowing the sun to glint off her scales.
Exo’s crests flared out in alarm. “I’m too young for this sort of commitment.” He took off in the direction Firefly had made his exit, leaving a very bewildered Fru behind.
